I aspire to become a freelance graphic designer. The day I opened my acceptance letter from Georgia Southern University, I was excited. Then I received my invitation to apply for the scholarships and I was ecstatic. I feel that I should be selected as a Georgia Southern Scholarship recipient because I am a dedicated candidate who values education and loves to learn.
I have always been an inquisitive person. My plans for the future have always included attending college and I have structured my high school career focusing on this path. As a result, by the end of my senior year, I will have earned 35 credits, which is 11 more than necessary to graduate from a South Carolina public high school. I have also achieved a class rank within the top eight percent of my graduating class because I treat my classes with utmost importance and aim to excel in everything I do. I have taken a rigorous course load including AP and honor classes in order to continue challenging myself. The culmination of these efforts will allow me to earn an additional AP Academy diploma offered by my high school as well as the AP Scholar

I found opportunities in digital media classes that would allow me to learn a variety of Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. These classes included the school’s print shop internship program. Although I was the only staff member who had not taken the prerequisite, my dedication and thirst for knowledge allowed me to quickly prove myself to the instructor and progress in the internship program. By the end of the year, I had learned how to design and create logos, buttons, keychains, and shirts for both the school community and for people around town. This internship experience cemented my life goals in place and truly confirmed for me that this is what I want to do as a
I believe that my personality and skill set lends itself to a career in advertising and communications, but, what I really want to do is help others in getting the opportunities that they need to change their lives and the lives of others. In order to do all of these things, I hope to first work my way through my undergraduate degree and then move directly into a graduate program. The Honors College is essential in my journey through higher education because it will provide for me the supportive space that I need to be able to continue to grow and implement my longterm goals. During my time at Appalachian I am most interested in making connections globally and locally with people who are as passionate about giving back to the world and learning as I myself am. Additionally,I feel that the rigorous program offered by The Honors College will help me to grow into the student that I will need to be in order to excel not only professionally, but also in a graduate
I excel in scholarship. Throughout my high school career, I have maintained a 4.139 GPA. I consider academics to be very valuable and strive for high grades in all my classes. I’ve taken two AP classes,
The National Honors Society is an organization that recognizes those who have shown the potential to adhere to the four pillars of society. The four pillars the National Honors Society sets its merit and foundation would be scholarship, leadership, service, and character. During the time that I have been a part of Nation Ford High School, and even the time preceding my high school years, I feel that I have accurately satisfied the requirements and applications of the four pillars which are noted above. Beginning with the first pillar of scholarship, I have managed to maintain an unweighted GPA of 4.0 with a weighted average of 5.15. I have worked effortlessly and effectively to make sure my grades were always in the highest percentile to
The first of my short-term goals is to graduate high school as a participant in the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is a program high school students apply for and if they are accepted, gain multiple benefits from. Accepted students must have have high GPAs, multiple hours of community service, be considered strong leaders within their community and by their peers, and be of good character. It is my goal to become a member of this program because not only does it help with college applications, but it also challenges me to improve my strengths and weaknesses. More specifically, I’m wanting to it to push me to be more involved in the community resulting in improved leadership skills.
I am currently organizing and teaching free weekend workshops at The College of Wooster where I share my professional experiences with students such as photographing artwork, alternative photographic and printmaking processes, and how to create and maintain an online artistic presence through website construction and social media. I also have gained valuable experience as the curator of the student art gallery and supervising the installment of the senior thesis exhibitions. Furthermore, as a graduate student, I assisted in the maintenance of the print studio, mentored international students in the photography studio, administered the undergraduate print organization, and proposed and managed a communal studio print night where undergraduates could come assist me with printing and vice versa. I am committed to the institutions where I teach and I believe in keeping academic course work relevant to contemporary trends in the arts and listening to peers to create
I successfully balance rigorous honors and AP coursework with various extracurriculars --ie dance, community service, JV Tennis team, and being officer of Mountain Pointe High School’s Black Student
Over my schooling experience I have found outlets for my creativity in flyer design, crafts, and various projects/event planning (homecoming, prom). I have taken leadership seminar, career building, and economics classes all of which I did very well in. With my research on internships in the fashion industry I have read that many internship positions are nowhere near actually designing any fashion, rather it truly being about getting introduced to the industry itself. Through my experience with Honor’s College I got the opportunity to enroll in capstone, and cornerstone seminar classes where I developed skills in leadership, and community service by focusing on developing effective team-building, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. I have mastered time management, academic responsibility, and information literacy through projects, presentations, and public speaking opportunities.
As a student, I have shown dedication and ability to manage sports and grades showing the ability to be an National Honors Society member. I have been on the principal's honor roll and high honor roll list throughout high school, including most of my middle school, and elementary school years. Since the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I have maintained over a 3.0 GPA which was during the time of covid. Starting my freshman year of high school was a struggle because of the learning changes.
To the scholarship committee, I think that I am a good candidate for the scholarship "Anita and Tim Link Faith & reason scholarship" because my personality fits the scholarship well. "Possessing the qualities of high academic achievement" is one of the objectives for earning the scholarship. That is one of my strengths, I have gotten a twenty-two on the ACT in seventh grade. I also have the ninety-ninth percent on MAPs tests repeatedly. I have done more than simply academic excellence.
In the fall I will be going to Kent State University and majoring in Fashion Design. I want to show the world that clothes and the way we dress is just another form of expression. Fashion doesn’t have to be expensive and garish, it can be fun and creative and expressive. I want to help people show you they are on the inside, on the outside. I hope to start my own clothing line after.
During my job shadow with Ms. Eileen Chalupa on Doane’s Campus I learned how to be creative, come up with my own style of graphic designing, and most importantly to never give up or lose hope on a project that someone has asked for. Her job is the head graphic designer at Doane University. Some questions that I asked her during the job shadow were what are some positive aspects and negative aspects of working as a graphic designer, are the hours flexible for the job and another question I asked was what training did she do to get ready for this type of work and if it required any type of education to complete. One of the reasons she chose this career was because her mother went through the desktop publishing program at Southeast Community
In my senior year of High School I dual enrolled at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. I decided to pursue an AA degree in Graphic Design because I wanted to hold off on graphic arts until I reach a University. I choose University of Florida as my dream college because of their outstanding College of the Arts. Attending UF’s program will equip me with the skills I need to be a successful graphic designer. The core skills I hope to acquire are problem solving, working well with others, and more.
One day this past summer, I ripped a page out of a sketchbook, snatched my twenty-four pack of vibrant sharpies, and sat down to ponder what I was to accomplish for the coming school year. After three pieces of crumpled paper, satisfaction was finally achieved. Under the title “Ultimate Goals,” five bullet points represent what I want most; “be kind to everyone, read twenty-five books, make all A’s, be casted as Cinderella in the Spring production, and be accepted into Craft Academy.” Everyday when I wake up, I am greeted by this list that hangs on my wall, reminding me to be assiduous. Seven months ago, I opened the newspaper and came across a feature that showcased a girl from my school, congratulating her on her acceptance to the Craft
This internship solidified the love that I've had for the fashion industry since I was a child. Even
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
