He is not looking for pity of a crutch because he is far too independent and strong now to search for sympathy for a circumstance he cannot change. His friends and family are always left profoundly astonished by his actions and thoughts presented in certain scenarios where depression and negativity arise from a social environment. He once told me that “The only time I felt as if I had a father or a teacher was at someone else’s home.” But the part the makes me the proudest to know him is the fact that if you were to have just met Hunter, you would never have any idea what he deals with or where he has come from. He is constantly being pulled down by chemistry balances. He Suffers from a medical condition that cause depressive symptoms leaving him alone in a bubble of negativity. He constantly sees himself battling the same disease that took his father’s life. As a young boy it was a lot to juggle and still is to this day. With his dreams in keen sight, he holds them with such a tight grip because he knows how easy it is too loose track of the joys life brings. There are a couple instances in his life he freely opened up about when I asked him, “Have you ever thought about killing yourself”? There was a huge emotional drop in the interview when prompted this question, however the comfortability of a two-year close relationship kept it on track. It’s very sad to say but he cited many times where he felt the thoughts were too much. He said that “I never once acted on them because I’m not the coward my father was.” He didn’t enjoy the emotions following his words because he has moved past that time in his life and wants to forget about it. What is more in focus is that from the beginning of kindergarten to the end of high school he has changed so differently he considers himself a new man. learning to cope with pain overtime he considers his disease a false diagnosis to overpower his brain with the beauty of the world: he knows its true he

Many times, others view unknown situations or topics as “cool”. Many times, they fail to realize the hardships others face. In “A Long Way Gone”, Beah’s friends had thought his experiences were cool but they would not feel the same way if they had read the memoir and understood the emotions and situations he had faced. Ishmael Beah’s memoir goes on to explain all the reasons why his experiences were not nearly cool.
“Coming of Age in Mississippi”, a memoir by Anne Moody, details her life story from childhood through her years at college as a young adult in the prime of the civil rights movement in the rural southern United States. This book was first published by Bantam Dell Publishing in 1968, and has been deemed a classic in its recount of Moody’s personal and political struggles against racism as an African American female in the South. I believe this book’s subject matter is social in nature, and deals with many issues including race, class, gender and politics. With the above mentioned, it is my belief that this book is very relative to the social sciences field.

Coercive treatment involves the treatment of an individual whom does not want to seek treatment or does not think that they require treatment. I believe that coercive treatment is a defensible practice as the practitioners working against the will of their patients, are doing so in hopes of helping the individual suffering from a mental disorder. There are many reasons as to why individuals may not believe that they require any sort of treatment. These reasons range from not realizing the consequences of their actions, fear of judgement, misinterpretation of symptoms, etc. There are a few recounts from Voices from the Inside, which display the correct use and need for coercive treatment, deeming it to be defensible.

He pointed out Mr. Cathey consistent bombardments of challenges and how he handle each situation. Every good point in his life such as becoming a father was met with a bad point in which he couldn’t go to school because he became a father. The author allowed us to feel happy for the situations that seemed any reasonable person would feel good about and upset about the unforeseen variables that tend to find Mr. Cathey. The author makes sure you feel the joy and pain of a young man who could have made it to a higher level but came up short because of his bad decision
