Is the story “Tell Tale Heart” Appropriate for our age group? Some may think it is not appropriate for thirteen and fourteen year olds. They might say it's too scary or too violent for young readers like us. The story is a great way for young readers to learn about horror. The “Tell Tale Heart” is a way for students to use their reading skills. The first reason why the story is appropriate for kids our age is because kids like excitement. This story is great for giving readers excitement and thrill like some horror stories. This story doesn't have monsters but still gives the reader entertainment. Edgar Allen Poe
The Tell-Tale Heart is a story about an insane narrator claiming to his sanity after murdering an old man out of anxiety and panic. Many believe the evidence points to the narrator being a calculated killer. After reviewing the symptoms of the narrator I believe him to be a man plagued with anxiety issues and panic attacks. First of all, the only reason the narrator had for such crime was of his eye, the eye of a vulture, nothing else. Not for his gold, property, or vengeance just his eye.
Edgar Allan Poe used the literary device of setting to give a dark, threatening tone in the story by using three main elements. Time of day, mood and atmosphere, and population. All to which are very effective towards the story. Time of day affects most of the story of Tell-Tale Heart, through the type of period of time the short story is based on. If it’s based on in the day people expect things that aren’t dark, but if it’s during the night you will be expecting something dark and ominous.
He intentionally wrote this book so gorey. According to The Young Adults Library Services, a young adult is a person between the ages of twelve and eighteen. Some publishers will market young adult novels to ages as low as ten up to twenty-five. The book contains rape, violence, sex, addiction, and drugs. Things that may not be appropriate for twelve-year-olds to read.
I think that the intended age is for middle schoolers it was the type of book you would see them use the book for research. My reaction, I really
I recommend this book to mostly teenagers because the characters are created mostly for a teenage audience. Some audience members might be able to relate to one of the characters in the story, therefore the reader and character might have a connection in some way throughout the story. Although I mostly recommend this book to teenagers, I still would recommend this book to anybody who loves to read. I 'm sure some adults would enjoy the book even though it 's mostly based around teenagers.
I believe almost every person can recall a time from their childhood in which they were spared the truth of something in an attempt to safeguard them. Trust then becomes the theme of the narrative. It is a lesson every parent wishes to impart to their child, and that is where the bridge between the intended audience and the true audience lies. The simple description and sentence structure Lowry employs, both attracts and makes the child reader comfortable, while the content and themes also echo sentiments and knowledge of both parents and adults alike. It can easily be argued that any book can be for anyone, but I think most people would agree that there is some content that is inappropriate for younger readers, whereas the opposite does not necessarily hold the same.
The narrator of the Tell-Tale Heart is viewed as many things: clever, mad, cruel, but is he sane or insane? The psyche of this killer is a mystery to many, with many debates as to if he is not guilty by way of insanity, responsible for his crimes, just a small bit delirious, or absolutely raving insane. He admitted to killing an old man, and denies madness at every whim. “ …but why will you say I am mad?...how, then, am I mad?...”
Stories from the horror genre leave little information to the imagination. Although, why do people believe this about most stories. Well authors use the horror genre elements to surprise, excite, and give a reader many emotions while reading.
While the story is known by children and adults alike, movies like these are released over and over from time to time. The logic behind it is simple, for one the movie is appropriate for all ages so there is not a division among age groups. This increases its chances of being watched and the tale
Tell-Tale Heart is about a man who was crazy and he killed an old man because of his evil eye. Then he shows the police where he hid the old man’s body. I strongly believe that Tell-Tale Heart is not appropriate for middle schoolers because it tells you about killing people and hiding the evidence. Tell-Tale Heart shouldn’t be read in middle school because it teaches us how to murder people. On page 93 its talks about him replacing the floor boards so cleverly from the police but he then confesses that he killed the old man and put him under the floorboards.
Do you know what your child or/ children read at school? Do you want your child or/ children reading about murder, dismember bodies, lying and acting phony? The Tell-Tale Heart is a story about a mad man with a lot of issues like, being mad, having a disease and murdering. The story encourages lying, murdering, and fakeness. Therefore, I feel tell-tale heart is not appropriate for middle school students.
“I've heard many things in the heaven and in the earth. I've heard many things in hell”(Poe). In the story The tell tale heart, a man ends up killing his old man over his “Vulture eye”. He loved the old man. But his “evil eye” vexed him and he decided to take his life.
Edgar Allan Poe is a famous writer and poet, who mostly wrote horror and mystery, his work is admired by many people, even children under 10. But is it actually good for them to read writings like these? I personally think that “The Tell-Tale Heart” is appropriate for students my age, not kids under 10. Not that I’m disseminating people who let their child(ren) read horror or older, but they won’t understand what the author is interpreting, he is from 1800, his words are different from nowadays, and kids believe in everything they hear/read. For example, in the text he uses words like,” audacity”, and “bosom”, nobody nowadays knows what these words are.
I think that people of my age group should be able to read the novel “Tell-Tale Heart”. The novel is a great story, and many people of my age love to read it. So this is why I chose to go with it can be appropriate for people of my age group. Now you will have some reasons for my opinion to say why it is appropriate. For instance my reason is that it’s not like we don’t know about most of the things that go on in the novel “Tell-Tale Heart”.
This story is also probably not intended for older people. Even though the book was published in 2005, there are some modern references mentioned in the book that they may not understand. They may think that we don’t understand the meaning behind this book. Older people definitely would have a different take on this story and the
