Accreditation Agency: All Klein ISD schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The mission of TEA is to provide leadership, guidance and resources to help schools meet the educational needs of all students. The curriculum followed by TEA is periodically updated by the State Board of Education and is known as TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and skills). Textbooks are then written in accordance with the TEKS for the different grade levels. (Source: http://tea.texas.gov/)

Every teacher has a website where parents can find important curriculum information such as daily schedule, teacher’s contact information and updates. Teachers are required to send a “Wednesday Folder” every Wednesday. This folder contains any newsletters or flyers distributed by the district or the school. In addition to this, this folder also consists of graded worksheets from the previous week and a chart that has individual feedback for conduct and performance for every child. The students are required to show these folders to their parents and returned signed folders the next day which earns them two tickets that can be redeemed for Prixes or perks (discussed in part 2). Report cards go home at the end of every 9- week grading period and all year round, parents can keep track of their child’s progress through a parent portal called Parent
In, Why Texas is Our Future, author and libertarian economist, Tyler Cowen, brings about reasons as to why the state of Texas is the future of the nation. In addition, he discusses how Texas could bring a prosperous future to those individuals who are residing in Texas or are thinking about moving to the state. Due to the fact that many individuals from around the world have migrated and inhabited the state of Texas, Cowen has made conclusions as to why this is happening. Some of the reasons the Lone Star State is being thought of as the future of the nation, are due to its affordable cost of living, as well as its middle-class squeeze.
Texas has always been very diverse in regards to our political cultures. These cultures have transformed over the years which makes Texas a hard place to govern. According to Daniel Elazar, each state is associated with a political culture classification scheme of moralistic, individualistic, and traditionalistic cultures. By definition, political culture is the shared values and beliefs about the nature of the political world that give us a common language that we can use to discuss and debate ideas. (21) Texas’s political culture is a combination of many political elements.
History of Texas accountability system A history of the accountability system in Texas provides insight into the current state of school accountability in Texas. The Texas Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS) was a criterion-based assessment created by legislative mandate in 1978 to test basic mathematics, reading and writing skills of students at grades three, five and nine. In 1983 it was mandated that ninth-grade students who failed the test had to re-test each subsequent year. Although students were not denied a diploma for failure, campus and district level performance of students was reported publicly and represented the beginning of ‘high stakes’ accountability for large-scale assessment in Texas (Texas Education Agency, Pearson Education
Texas is the second most populated and second largest state in United State. Due to its size, Texas contains diverse landscapes that resemble both American South and Southwest. Most of the population centers are located in areas of formers prairies, grass lands, forests, and the coastline. The current Texas Constitution was adopted in 1876. Like most of the states, it also provides for a separation off power.
During my experience at Texas Boys State I was able to collaborate and interact with different young men across the state whom many had various beliefs and opinions especially in politics and society. This difference in opinions showed how my perspective of the world is not the same for some other person living in Houston for example. At the time it was a little overwhelming listening to all the debates and opinions for hours but fortunately I came to respect the beliefs of others and not let my personal opinion interfere with theirs. Overall, I had a wonderful experience communicating and working with these young men from various high schools across Texas where I learned that resepct is necessary when dealing with one who belief 's are different
School. It’s the place we go to learn, to meet new people to get and education. We spend a minimum of 12 years at school, not including the years some people spend in college. If we’ve been in school for such a long period of time, getting an education, it must have made some sort of impact in life, right? The Other Wes Moore proves this point by giving insight of two different people with the same name and completely different life outcomes.
Briefly, in the evolution of the Texas political system, Texas’s history has been through many situations that shaped the political structure in Texas to become to what it is today. Many changes were responsible for the impact in the history of Texas such as the Texas revolution, the Alamo war with Mexico, military reconstruction act in 1867, etc. Before the war with Mexico, one of the most important impact in Texas history was the Republic of Texas Constitution in 1836. Texas and Mexico have an escalating tension and is responsible for the new change in the Texas state constitution. For the cause of the Republic of Texas Constitution in 1836, Texas begins by declaring its independence in 1836, established the Republic of Texas, and decided to adopt the new constitution.
One of the reasons that Texas wanted its independence from Mexico was because Mexico failed to provide a system of public education. Texas received its independence from Mexico in 1836 and after being admitted into the Union in 1845, a bill was passed in 1854 establishing public education. A major milestone of public education was the case Brown vs. Board of Education, which ended public segregation in public schools. A major reform that the public education system in Texas has experienced was the Gilmer-Aikin Laws in 1949. “They replaced the elected office of State Superintendent with an appointed administrator, raised teachers ' salaries without regard to sex or race, elevated the role of the state in what had here to fore been a local responsibility,
As the United States faces many changes, every state under its regime is affected. This is why Texas always seems to be facing issue after issue. According to current college students attending different universities in the state of Texas, the problems Texas has recently been facing ranges from: high rates of accidents caused by highway constructions; influx of illegal immigrants crossing over especially here in Brownsville; to the smuggling of drugs into the country since the Gulf of Mexico is so close. However, surprisingly each of these students living in different cities within the state have expressed that the most worrisome current issue Texas has been struggling with is funding the educational system.
Texas Economy Through Time Texas economy throughout the ages has become quite famous for its ever changing status. When Texas was just a young state it did not have the economy that the other states at the time possessed but it did have potential which was picked up on starting out with the livestock and cattle industry. Texas went through a rapid expansion and quickly caught up with its statehood brethren. As time carried on so did the cattle industry of Texas. Soon farming and production of cotton sparked another economic shift for Texas, which caused demand to spike as other states could not keep up with the ability Texas had to produce its cotton.
Interested parents can choose to participate on an advisory council. This committee works with GATE resource teachers, school administrators, general education teachers, and other school personnel to receive updates, provide feedback, and ask questions related to GATE programs. The advisory council meets at least three times a year in order to ensure that the education of every child is enhanced by assisting with program planning and assessment. The role of parent representatives is to serve as a liaison between the school’s GATE program and the school community. Parents may find information about joining the local advisory council by meeting with a school administrator or the GATE coordinator.

I also provide parents with pictures and descriptions of all the different activities that we do in our classroom. Another avenue that we like to do to keep families in the loop about what goes on in our classroom is our newsletter that we send out to parents that has information about their child and what we have done in our classroom. • CG 4.2 How do you ensure that you are aware of what 's happening in each child 's home life?
Political culture establishes the backdrop against which politics unfold, it establishes the outer limits of what is possible, or even probable in the political realm. Texas political culture can be described as traditionalistic and individualistic. Texas traditionalist political culture believes in the values that policies are designed to preserve social order in the state, politicians come from society’s elite, and politicians have a family obligation to govern. While on the other hand, individualistic political culture believes that government should be limited when it comes to the lives of the public, individual rights of the citizens should be the main focus of a government rule, and a stronger support of personal politics rather than elitism. Texas also has a strong populism influence.
In my last week in Wilkinson Middle School I was observing Classroom Procedures .Ms. Culberson is a very fun teacher but she is really strict in every one that enters her classroom knows that .Ms. Culberson might not be in the class whenever the bell rings but her students know to start in the bell ringer. She times her student and they all have to work quickly and quietly. They grade the bell ringer after words she asks for their grade and they have to say it out loud.
