Education for the Better A common struggle we have today is the topic of education and how it’s supposed to be used in our society. Some may say that education is only used as a time consumer place holder to stop the flooding of jobs while others say that it is a journey to discover who we are and what we are interested in doing in the future. In the autobiography “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” by Alex Haley and Malcolm X (1965), they emphasize how Malcolm’s prison studies made him be able to become one of the most articulate and powerful leaders of black America during the 1960s. Freeman A. Hrabowki III’s (2003) commentary, “College prepare people for life” discusses how college isn’t a waste of time and how its education …show more content…

Although this has a point, colleges actually prepare people for jobs and more importantly, prepare them for life. While in college, students need strong counseling to know what their best options are to succeed in the future. In the article “Colleges prepare people for life” it says, “Lack of counseling is one reason that fewer than 10 percent of Americans from the lowest income quartile have earned a college degree by age 24, compared to 80 percent of those in the top quartile.” Furthermore, there is data showing that the fastest growing job categories require at least a college degree. College graduates are much more likely to be employed than those with only a high school diploma and earn drastically higher salaries. This shows that not only is education is important in life itself, but education will affect what your future job will look like depending on how hard you work in your high school/college …show more content…

Education will determine how successful you are in the future, and will lead you to find joy and happiness with all of the things you can accomplish. Also education should be taught while the children is young and has a fresh mind. Otherwise, it’ll be too late and later in life they will regret not learning or trying to work their hardest. That’s why we should really be trying to bring out every child’s dream and potential to be the best person they can be. The main goal of education is like teaching a man how to fish instead of just giving him the fish.
