In my opinion from reading the conviction of Hiawatha Robinson case, I honestly think that he was guilty of the murder of his 8- year old daughter Hiawayi. The FBI and police had gathered so much information on Hiawatha that they could finally charge him of 1st degree murder of his daughter. The FBI had fingerprints, phone records, and even witnesses saying that Hiawatha was the last person to see his daughter alive. To murder your own daughter I think you have to be heartless and evil, especially a child he age of eight. Everyone expects Robinson to be sentenced to life in prison, meaning if he was eligible for parole he would get it after spending 24 years in prison first. Robinson never blamed nobody else for the murder of his daughter and
Would you believe that the mastermind of three murders could be out of jail in just eight years? Do you think it is fair that the other person involved with the murders was sentenced to life in jail and will only be eligible for parole after serving 25 years? Would it change your mind after knowing that the mastermind is just an 12-year-old? Jasmine Richardson was the 13 year old behind this terrible murder. Most wouldn’t believe someone that young could come up and go through with something that terrible.
Mr.Ewell is known for being very cruel and mean. Even his son has the same mean attitude. Robinson is used as a scapegoat because he is an easy target. Therefore, because of the circumstances it would put him in a situation
Anthony Robinson strove all his life to escape the caste system of the ghetto he grew up in. He graduated from a prestigious college and joined the military, only to be falsely identified in a rape case and convicted. He argued many times that he was innocent and was devastated that he ended up in jail, adding to the reputation of those who grow up in the ghetto usually end up in prisons. He had to serve thirteen years in jail before he was paroled able to prove his innocence; he accomplished this with a DNA sample after saving his own money to fund a DNA examination to prove he did not commit the crime and clear his record(1,2). Sadly, Robinson is not the only one who's life was ruined because he was falsely convicted and given no fair trial.
Hutchinson held meetings with women to discuss her own theological views, recent sermons, and question church policies. In the text of “The Massachusetts Bay Colony Case Against Anne Hutchinson (1637)”, the governor tells Mrs. Hutchinson, “Why for your doings, this you did harbor and countenance those that are parties in this faction that you have heard of”. The governor is accusing Anne of disrupting the laws of God and causing instability because when one person speaks out it creates a chain reaction. This includes more people questioning and even rebelling against their leaders and religion. In another incident in the writing of The Massachusetts Bay Colony Case Against Anne Hutchinson (1637)”, the governor ask Mrs. Hutchinson a question
Robinson’s murder for two reasons. The first reason was that It was all right in the end. Many think that just because it all turned out okay in the end, that the boys should have kept the dangerous secret. This is not an adequate reason for the boys to not tell the authorities because if they would have told them, everything would be okay sooner rather than later.
Tom Robinson knew the girl who he allegedly raped
Lastly, the outcomes of both Robinson’s and Stinney’s convictions would be very different in a modern day courtroom due to the cruel and unusual punishment clause of the 14th Amendment. In 2005 the Supreme Court ruled that it was cruel and unusual punishment to execute someone convicted of murder that was under the age of eighteen (Juveniles and the death penalty). Although inmates do not have the same constitutional rights as free citizens, this same clause would have applied to Tom Robinson and his rights while in jail (Prisoner Rights). While modern day laws allow the shooting of a fleeing unarmed inmate, there are many stipulations to this law. Today’s officers would have to prove that there was an immediate threat to do so.
The whole concept seems unjust but that was the sad truth of how it was back a few 86 years ago. The killing of Tim Johnson also hints at Mr.Robinson’s unfortunate death, even the names are extremely similar, Tim and
Dear Members of the Jury, I am writing you this letter to tell to you that Tom Robinson should be proven not guilty. This case would have never happened if the truth would have been told and it wasn’t a case between black and white. There are many ways that Robinson is not guilty. One of these reasons that Tom Robinson is not guilty is that if you listened to the Sheriff 's testimony he stumbled frequently and when he said something and then Atticus would say something different he would agree with Atticus. Tom Robinson is a very polite man with great manners, which you could take into consideration that he wouldn’t dare hurt this woman in this kind of manner.
On the day of Tom Robinson’s trial in the courtroom, Tom Robinson received a guilty verdict. Tom Robinson received a guilty verdict because he is a black man, a “Negroe” and black people can’t be trusted, according to the society. People filled the courtroom for Tom Robinson’s trial. Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white young women, Mayella Ewell who was 19 years of age. The judge was judge Taylor.
Perceptions are often incorrect when one is unwilling to believe or does not have all of the facts. These inaccurate perceptions can lead to false accusations, which in turn can cause an immense amount of suffering. In the case of Tom Robinson, other’s perception of him and people of his race led to a false accusation against him. More specifically, the people of the Southern town of Maycomb perceived African Americans to be uneducated and untrustworthy, thereby declaring the Negroes as inferior to themselves. When Tom Robinson ran from the Ewell home upon the arrival of Bob Ewell, the unkempt and unreliable father of the alleged rape victim, it was assumed that Robinson had done something of suspicion.
Tom Robinson had no chance of freedom just because his skin was of a different color than what the jury preferred even though he was innocent, as Atticus Finch proved. Tom Robinson ended up getting killed in prison, leaving his wife and children to
George Anthony The witness list includes Vasco Degama Thompson, an ex-convict who served time for kidnapping, ABC affiliate WFTV reported. The defense alleges that Thompson had phone conversations with George Anthony on July 14, just days before Caylee was reported missing, Cindy Anthony was the one who reported Caylee missing, in July 2008 Lee Anthony testified about his sister's pregnancy with Caylee, breaking down in tears as he claimed his family ignored her pregnancy, not talking about it until just days before she gave birth in 2005. Tony Lazzaro was seen with Casey the day after she was reported missing Roy Kronk found Caylee Anthony’s remains in a wooded area near the Anthony family home, he saw a white object in the same location
Because of that, Underwood's opinion states, it was unjust to kill him. Using this theory, both Tom Robinson’s and the
First, Tom Robinson should have been found not guilty because he was right handed. Mayella the victim, was punched in the face on the night of the crime. On page 235, Mr. Heck Tate stated that Mayella had a black eye on her right eye
