As stated about Greek Architecture from your reading this week: “The formulas they invented as early as sixth century B.C. have influenced the architecture of the past two millennia”. Why do you think the architect(s) choose to copy the classical style? What kind of messages does the style convey? How is the building’s function (use) suited to the classical style? Greek architecture is known for its class and style, which, for the then dispensation was of a very high standard. Consequently, they have maintained a good reputation even to this present generation. According to this week’s reading, “The formulas they invented as early as sixth century B.C. have influenced the architecture of the past two millennia” (Hemmingway, 2017). The fact that Greek architecture has sustained its influence for so long, speaks volumes for the quality of its design and character. The modern building I have seen in classical style is the Wesley College of Science, located in Ibadan, Nigeria, which was constructed in the late 1990’s. It is big, and expansive building two-storey building, with well-decked walls and firm pillars at its foundation, surrounding it. It has panelled windows, held together by glazing bars. This architectural design is typical of the classical style. The manner of its representation conveys a sense of permanence and vitality of life. It speaks to a sense of clarity and harmony when one looks at the building, as well as it has a very stately appearance. There is a
