Guns and the Media It seems the media talks a lot about gun control and gun rights. The question is: Do they talk about it to stop violence or get rid of guns? In the past ten years the media has talked about guns a lot more than most of the other topics. The media’s main points are that we need to either get rid of guns completely or at least put more restrictions on them. Here are some statistics to show why this would be a bad idea. There are 45 guns to every 100 people in Switzerland. That is the fourth highest gun ownership rate in the world. The country has one of the world’s lowest homicide rates.” For Honduras “There is 3 guns per 100 people and they have the highest overall crime rate in the world.” The more guns a country has, there is less crime. Statistics show this. (procon.org) The second amendment of the United States constitution says “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms will not be infringed.” Yet the media and even some of the most well-known politicians attempt to infringe upon our rights. One of the politicians, Hillary Clinton, once said “I will get the NRA shut down for good f I become president. The U.K has a total gun ban. They are number one in the world for violent crimes (2,034 per 100k people). They also have the second highest overall crime rate in the European Union. Their total crimes are 10,892 per 100k people. The U.S is number one in the world for gun ownership (88 per 100 people) and is not even in the top ten countries for violent crimes (466 per 100k people). The U.S is 28th in the world for murders (297 per 100K) and has a total crimes rate of 3,959 per 100k people.
