Why do owner's treat pets as humans? Within Emilia Di Luca's essay The Pet Owner's Burden, Di Luca argues why owners should not treat their pets as humans. She begins by telling one of her own experiences where she treats her dog Amber as a human. Throughout Di Luca provides the reader with several pieces of evidence that support her argument. Di Luca concludes that people should not treat their pets as humans. In my opinion, Di Luca provides too much information overwhelming the reader. Di Luca attempts to give the reader enough evidence to support her conclusion. In the aspect of this essay, I feel Di Luca fails because she support her argument from one side, rather from both. For instance, the author tells how the poodle used to be a hunting dog and the reason why its hair was cut with a lions main was because then the dog could swim better. FINISH As the reader going through the essay each paragraph leads into the next creating a nice flow throughout the essay. I found that the organization of the essay was chronological and made sense as a whole. Each paragraph was evidence that supported the argument/conclusion. Although I thought there was too much evidence to support the argument the organization of the essay was spot on. Also, the end of the essay just gives the conclusion that humans treat their pets as humans rather than giving the other side of the argument and coming to the conclusion. Di Luca made sure that the argument was supported throughout the essay. There is more than enough evidence for a person reading this essay to be persuaded into believing the conclusion that humans treat their pets as humans. The only thing that I would suggest to do is give the other side to the argument proving that the conclusion is valid. Having the other side to the argument and proving that it is not as strong as the side which is the conclusion would make for a better
