Burke was able to use media resources to help manage the Tylenol crisis. He knew that by publically speaking and acknowledging the crisis Tylenol had leading to the possible deaths of several people in the Chicago would bring about public trust. He also was aware that it could be an outlet to show consumers that they were valued and the issues of Tylenol were being addressed immediately. That’s why Burke mad the immediate and drastic decisions to pull the medicine from the shelves and have it replaced. I would also have made a statement immediately responding to the Tylenol concerns and several deaths to let the public know that we are aware of the issues and their concerns and are working to address the issues. I would want the front media person to be honest and limited on how much information he/she discloses to the public so that it wouldn’t have a bad flashback on the company. I think it would be important to reach out to families beforehand so that could let the public know that we empathize with them and have been working with the families to help address the issues. I think this is important because the public wants to know that we are concerned with the lives that were lost and we also don’t want the families to become upset and make statement because they feel the company is neglecting them. I think the short term goal would be address the issues to the public and instantly remove the medicine from the shelf. Long term I think the goal would to reproduce a safer product and work with consumer and media to gain the public trust back. As the CEO of J&J the main image to projects is someone in complete control that empathizes with everyone and is working personally to fix the issues. I think it’s important because some people may feel the company takes the issues serious when he/she themselves is directly addressing it not just the everyday workers. I think opportunities could be created to resolve the issues without losing market to competitors by valuing customers so that they become loyal and don’t want to purchase other
