CSS: When teens surround themselves with people who are making good decisions and who are involved with positive activities and choices, this typically makes teens want to be better. Having positive friends increases confidence and self-esteem. If this peer pressure happens at school, it could improve a teen's grades or even friends.

No one knows for sure why people peer pressure, but the next step to stopping it goes out to all of the people that do the pressuring. Just stop, don't pressure people into doing what’s wrong because of the things you do. It’s not cute. It’s not cool. There are no excuses for it. Just stop. Teens today are also influenced by their peers on their actions. In the article “Peer Pressure” it says, “The term “peer pressure” refers to any type of influence that your friends may have over you. Many times, teens are influenced by their peers to do things that result in negative consequences. This is negative peer pressure. Specifically, negative peer pressure refers to activities such as using drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes; vandalizing property; using violence against others; having sex before you are ready or having unsafe sex; stealing; or driving drunk” (Feder).
This shows that many individuals struggle with balancing their time between all of their activities and their school work. Many students are peer pressured to experiment with some drug throughout their adolescence. As Moller describes himself as having an appearance of exhaustion, he states that“ he handed me a small white pill”. Peer pressure can come in many forms, it 's not always just having peers push people within their group to do something but sometimes it 's the fact that so many people that surround an individual are trying new things so it appears to be an accceptable thing. But eventually the curiosity kicks in and can lead to an individual trying new things.
For my second experiential learning assignment, I decided to break a social norm while going out to eat with my family at a restaurant: granted this is something I have a habit of doing but the reaction I got from my dining mates was particularly interesting this time. To give a little bit of background of the setting I was in at the time, I was with my mother, younger brother, and my mother’s friend at a restaurant in DC for my birthday dinner. The restaurant was crowded, but not many people were paying attention to what we were doing. Peers make a set of unwritten laws that most people follow out of fear of being shunned. Peer pressure can also be explained as a tool to control individuals in society, for example, “In essence, society controls us by rewarding us when we conform, and penalizing us when we don’t. Peer pressure influences teenagers by trying to fit in with the rest of the kids that are doing the things that your are not comfortable doing. Laurie Halse Anderson the author of “speak” is saying that peer pressure is not something someone should go through because it causes people to make bad decisions. ` Melinda Sordino was peer pressured by going to the party and getting drunk at the party. (Halse). Anyone can be peer pressured, i was peer pressured, one day i was at a friends house and they pressured me to do ditch class,so i did and now it is my choice to do it or to not do it.
Peer pressure is a very disturbing thing in our culture today. In the book ScrewTape Letters, ScrewTape informs Wormwood about peer pressure. At a young age, parents tend to teach their child right from wrong. They teach you this to become responsible, so when your an adult you do not have to rely on them while making decisions. The narrator felt the need he had to shoot the elephant because the people of Burma were frightened and he wanted to be their hero. Peer pressure can lead people to do bad things for what they think are good reasons but are actually not.
For our group and our shared love of food we figured that a social norm that had something to do with that would be perfect for us. We decided that the norm to drive through a drive thru needed to be tested. Why should cars be the only ones with the fast access to fast food at their convenience? We believed that people should be able to walk through the drive thrus if it is more convenient for them.
The students do this to because of the peer pressure that follows them. However, self-induced pressure also plays a role in convincing the students to try and defeat other students. Students put pressure on themselves to seek success in school. Seeing the success of others near them produces a panic to settle in, which leads to just he focus on their studies and nothing else.
An accepting and healthy environment is needed. Many people face peer pressure because they are deemed uncool and are pressured to do uncomfortable things and things that they believe are not right. If everyone accepts everyone around them for their real selves and will not judge them, people will not commit unhealthy acts and develop undesirable bad habits. People need to surround themselves around healthy and positive company that will accept each other and have healthy core values.
Drinking and Driving is when a person drinks any amount of alcohol, and they decide to drive a vehicle. A common misconception is that you can only get drunk if you drink a bunch of drinks when in reality you can get drunk from drinking only one drink. Being under the influence applies to anyone that has a blood alcohol level of .08% for civilian drivers, and .04% for commercial drivers. These are only limits for people 21 years of age and up. If you are caught drinking and driving under 21 you will be charged regardless of your Blood alcohol level.

Suicide and Self-harm is one of the main leading causes in youth deaths in today 's society. The thought of ending his or her life is one of the thoughts developing in teenagers’ minds around the globe. There are many reasons to why a person will put their life at risk, such as stress, depression, loss of a loved one, or being bullied. Constant use of drugs or alcohol is also another leading cause to a person to have suicidal thoughts/actions. Suicide is not the way to go, there are plenty of other options to overcome suicidal thoughts or actions.
