We have experienced firsthand unequal treatment from the King of England. We have seen the King punish people for any number of things- perhaps something just as simple as dissension with the government or because they did not follow the official established religion. As we create our new government we must include protections for the people, so the government does not have all the power. The Constitution alone does not provide sufficient protection against abuses of power by the federal government, for personal freedoms to be broad, the power of the federal government must be limited. The Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments of the Constitution, list the fundamental liberties, our basic rights, as Americans and places limitations on the federal government. The Bill of Rights gives the American people an assurance that the powers not delegated to the federal government in the Constitution are reserved to the states and the people.
(1) Our individual right to freedom of religion, speech, and the press will be protected. This protection hinders Congress from establishing a national religion, or prohibiting the free exercise or getting in the way of the freedom of speech or of the press. This will keep Congress from

“A well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. While maintaining a militia to protect the country, every colonist can own a gun for protection of themselves and their families. We want to ensure the basic right to bear arms we enjoyed as Englishmen remains because we were denied this right when we began to rise up against British authority in the colonies. It is important for us to be equally as armed as the government so we can rebel against the government if they overstep the boundaries in place by the Constitution. It is the right of the people to alter or abolish the government if it becomes
To protect the “unalienable rights (of) life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and ultimately the freedom of expression, the First Amendment prevents congress from restricting religion or the “freedom of speech, or of the press or the right of the people to assemble peaceably” in order to . Most importantly what the First Amendment allows is the right of the people to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances”, which allows the American people to “abolish…and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on…principles…most likely to effect their safety and happiness”, exactly as the Continental Congress did with the Declaration of
One of the most significant pieces of the constitution is the Bill of Rights, or the first ten amendments. These describe the everyday basic rights of the people in which the federal government can not intervene. By putting these in place the creators of the constitution ensured that the people would always have their rights and there was no chance of the government taking them away, just as had happened with England. Federalism is not the only example of separation of
The Bill of Rights plays an important part in U.S. history. The Bill of Rights and the Constitution defined the limits of government, not the people. They define what government was responsible for protecting as well as what not to restrict or take away. The Bill of Rights was designed to keep government in check, not the people. The contextual factors and societal forces that were played in the roles and the development of each document were In reference to the Bill of Rights all were considered equal.
It is interesting to note that today’s ardent gun advocates purposely ignore the first part of this amendment (A well regulated militia being necessary for to the security of a free State) and only quote the second part (…the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed). They know that the militia idea is unappealing in a civilized society and that this amendment as it is written 200 years ago does not make sense
The Constitution is divided into sections and articles, and amendments, official changes. Everything in the Constitution is meant to ensure American citizens life, liberty, and happiness. The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights promises American citizens the right to assemble, the right to petition, the freedom of speech, the freedom of press, and the freedom of religion. The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
Based on the first amendment which states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”. We the citizens of the United States have the freedom to choose and practice our religion, freedom of speech, freedom of press and freedom of petition. Although this amendment seems to be beneficial for the general public it actually does more harm than good. I do not believe that there is in fact a such thing as freedom. Freedom means the power to act, speak or think as one warns without hindrance or restraint.
" Some reasons why this amendment was made are that the framers wanted adults to know how to use a weapon and to be ready to use a weapon if they were attacked. During this time, the British troops were still attempting to overtake the new land, one of the ways they did this was by attempting to take the people’s guns. There was still reason to believe that British would still attack the new country and the United States did not have a real army, so any military action needed to be responded to by
1. Identify the purpose of the Bill of Rights and how it reassured people. The Bill of Rights consists of ten amendments that outline specific rights and freedoms, such as the freedom of speech, religion, and press, as well as protections for individuals accused of crimes, such as the right to a fair trial and protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. The Bill of Rights also reserves particular powers, both within the states and the people.

The Second Amendment says, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Gun rights has become the subject of intense political, social, and cultural battles for much of the last century. The pro-gun right side has asserted that the right to arms was absolute, and that any gun control laws infringed that right (Kopel, 2013). This right has been supported by the Supreme Court who has reinforced what has become the American consensus that the Second Amendment allows the right to keep and bear arms, especially for self-defense, and that it is a fundamental individual
The first part concerns religion. By saying that congress can’t establish a religion, separation of church and state is given. No person can be made to be a certain religion by congress. It also gives the right to exercise their religion freely. Next comes freedom of speech and of the press, meaning that the people and press and say what they want (to a certain extent).
During Early America, our Founding Fathers declared that each man in America is entitled to a set of rights to protect themselves and from the government. The 1st and 2nd amendments guarantee each American is entitled to The Right to Bear Arms by “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. " I 've come here before today to ask you here today if you feel you are in danger of the gov’t. I 've got a proposition for you young Americans; if you are in danger of the gov’t and are obliged to fall into submission of their so called corrupt ways stand up and make a difference and stand for a new change in the American way of life.

Constitution: Preamble and Bill of Rights” the author is trying to secure the unalienable rights of the people. In the first Amendment of the U.S. Constitution it states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” This Amendment gives power to the individual by prohibiting Congress from making new laws that will interfere with the freedom of speech of the people. The Preamble Constitution also reduces the power of the Federal Government by stating,” Secure the Blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” By saying this, the Constitution weakens the Federal Government by barring the government from making laws against these rights in not just the present but the future as well.
