Describe the communication requirements of different audiences
Knowing your audience helps you to choose which form of communication to use, for example, if I was speaking to a child I would speak calmly with a slightly high pitched voice as its more soothing towards the child, where as if I was talking to a teacher I would speak in my normal tone, depending on my relationship with the teacher, where as if I was talking to someone very important I would speak in a polite, professional manner.
Different audiences require different communication styles. When communicating with other people, it is important to adapt to meet their needs. If you are trying to pass on information to someone outside of your department, it would be impractical to use technical jargon that they would not normally come across or use. When speaking to a customer who is upset or angry, you should remain calm and ensure that the instructions you give them are completely understood in order to avoid further confusion. If you started talking to an upset customer in a complex manner, and they didn't understand, then they would probably get even more upset and angry. So it’s important that you always adapt your communication when speaking to different types of people. When knowing your audience it eliminates your options.

What would happen to your thoughts and system responses if the narrative changed when discussing costs and savings? For example, what is the savings metric given the hidden costs to anyone with health insurance prior to ACA? Anyone using their insurance or visiting a hospital, given hospital pass through costs due to their need to treat uninsured people, especially uninsured who waited too long to get treatment because they could not pay? What is the potential monetary savings metric given a shift to either a public or private single payer system? Why are we paying for multiple administrative structures when a single system would potentially be less expensive and more efficient?

7 / D.P7: Explain how different procedures maintain health and safety in a selected health or social care setting Maintaining health and safety in health and social care is extremely important to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all their service users as well as other individuals service providers may come in contact with in the setting. There are several procedures that help to maintain this health and safety however they can all vary between settings for example, health and safety procedures will be slightly different and more focused on certain areas in hospitals and especially in paediatric ward compared to in drop-in centres where the needs and risk to service users are slightly different. Other body language that I used during my speech was to have a “confused” facial expression a few times throughout the speech. My articulation during my speech was not perfect. There were some mumble words that I, myself, couldn’t understand clearly, and I do not know if my classmates understood them. When I realized that I mumbled too much, I slowed down my speech. My strength in giving my speech was that I changed my voice depending on what I wanted the audience to understand completely and what I wanted them to get out of my speech.

There are a variety of different group communication components which I could work on in order to better communication with my colleagues. One of the main things which I plan to work on in regard to my group communication is my use of technical jargon. My use of jargon sometimes inhibits my ability to effectively communicate with less experienced members of the group and often leads to a number of misunderstandings with these crew members. I will work to both reduce my use of technical jargon when communicating with these crew members and try to explain these terms to new employees when we are not in a high stress and high risk environment. I will also work to remind new employees and firefighters to ask when they are unsure of the meaning
