How would a scholarship help you attend UW-Stevens Point? My parents are requiring that I pay 50% of my college education. They believe this will give me more ownership in my college education but also an appreciation for the financial commitment earning a degree is going to take. I currently am working a part-time job and I am saving as much money as I can and I plan on applying for financial aid. I am somewhat concerned about the amount of debt I will incur and would like to keep that to a minimum. So I need to find other sources of revenue such as scholarships to assist me with my share of the financial commitment. I also plan on working on campus during my time at college but would like to keep the number of hours reasonable so I can …show more content…
I can only tell my story. I have overcome hardships in my life. My first four years of life was in the Foster Care system bouncing from one foster home to another before being adopted. I am an African-American that has lived outside of the African-American community and I have experienced discrimination. Despite these difficulties I managed to get myself through school and accepted into UW-Stevens Point. As an individual, there is only one me. I try not to follow anyones example but my own. When someone tells me that I can’t do something I will work harder than ever to prove they are wrong. When I say that I am going to do something, I will do anything and everything I possibly can to get it done. Not once have I thought that I was unequal to the next person. When the odds are stacked against me is when I truly believe I am strongest. A scholarship would assist me in achieving my long-term goal of Social Work and being able to help disadvantaged youth overcome adversity. My grades are not spectacular, but they are solid. I am persistent and I complete what I have started. I am a hard worker, I understand college is my opportunity in life, and I will not waste the opportunity. The scholarship will go to good use in helping me achieve my
I believe that I am qualified for this scholarship because of how much I have grown at Wendell Baptist Church. It has helped me grow in my walk with God through missions and through serving. It has helped me appreciate the little things in life like the slides during services on sunday morning. Showing me that the little things like that do not just happen and some people put a lot of work into making them happen. Wendell Baptist Church has also shown me just how great my life is and how the problems I think I have are actually not that big of a deal in the long run.
I am the best candidate for this scholarship because I have experienced a hard and unwanted event, but I have grown from it and become a better and stronger person because of my parents, which will help me power through college and become a civil lawyer. My mom and dad although divorced, have supported me through every event in my life, making me the person I am today. Living with my mom, I have learned how hard it really is to do things that my dad would have done in a heartbeat. As I grew up knowing that my dad was not coming back through the back door as I hoped, I learned how hard life really is and how life is not fair.

If your heart is set on a certain career and you want or require a degree, you can use those scholarships to pave the way to your dreams of having a lifelong career that you furthered your education for. Even if your plans don’t work out, as long as you have your degree in a field
By receiving this housing scholarship I will be able to further avoid student loan debt and I can focus on working towards a career instead of thinking about how to repay loans. By removing the housing financial barrier, this will make my educational and career goals easier to obtain. Having a scholarship that pays for your education and living expenses will mean more time for studying and learning, which can lead to better grades and retention of knowledge and increase your chances for continuing on to graduate school. This scholarship will make a big difference in how much time and resources I will have during college to spend on enhancing your experience and knowledge through service-learning, volunteer opportunities and internships. Since I only live with my mom,and she just has one job to pay all of our bills, paying for college is far from our minds. Even though my mom has worked hard to give me everything I needed and supported me all my life, she just doesn’t have enough to afford the privilege of me going to college. But with the help of this scholarship, I might be able to get a college education. If I get this scholarship,I promise that I will not leave it to waste. I will apply this scholarship to help me in my first years at TMCC.
Ever since I was a young child I knew I had one dream I wanted to turn into a realty. Some kids would answer when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up where, “An artist,” “A princess,” “Rich and famous.” But at that age, I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. Saving lives and helping children was a dream I wanted to turn into a reality. At a young age, I was taught to work hard for anything you wanted to achieve.
I believe I should be selected for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship because I am not the typical high school senior. When it comes to my education, I go about and beyond expectations. My desire to do my best in school shows consistently year after year. I put in equal amount of effort when it comes to my after school activities and community involvement. I was told at a young age that education was the key to success and from that point on I made it my main priority not to be the average student among those that settle for less but to be a outstanding student that rises to every occasion to take advantage of my education.
Getting chosen to get this scholarship will me get more motivated to attend a 4 year college, and it will also help my parents. Due to living in a low income family, college can be very difficult. I come from a family where, we do struggle at times. Getting this scholarship will be an honor and will save my family and I money. My family is very supportive towards my career goals, which is to become a Register Nurse so I can help people around the world, and one day make an organization to help people whom also struggle.
As I begin my college education, I want to continue doing my best in order to accomplish my goal of becoming a registered nurse. With the scholarship money I can have the peace of mind of solemnly focusing on college. Students who have to work to continue their education have trouble focusing on school and do not have the extra time to study or go to tutoring sessions. In many cases, having to work while attending college usually leads to failing or dropping the class due to extra stress and the idea of income. As well, this scholarship will give me more time to focus on my education and to continue my volunteer work helping the
How this scholarship will help me... well a little goes a long way. Everyone knows that college is really expensive. This scholarship will help me pay for textbooks, classes, etc. This scholarship will reduce a financial burden on me and my parents.
As I have to pay for all of my college expenses myself, a scholarship of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Receiving a scholarship would assist me in not only paying for my education but, giving me motivation to continue earning high grades. Knowing that I have support from an organization and that they want me to succeed with earning my degree would certainly motivate me to keep up my great academic progress. That is because I wouldn’t want to let that organization
I already know I will need to be paying for the majority of my college tuition, which is why I have worked so hard and had a job since I was 16. I know many students around my financial status whose parents are paying for all of their college, but for my family this isn’t the case. The tuition will fall mainly on my shoulders, and I believe I deserve this scholarship to help me pay for
