Above all, the most important role of american industry was war production. This is emphasized in document 1 “The superiority of the United states in weapons must be overwhelming so overwhelming that the Axis nations can never hope to catch up with it. In order to attain this overwhelming superiority the United states must build planes and tanks and guns to the utmost limit of our national capacity. We have the ability to produce arms not only for our own forces but also for the armies, navies and air forces fighting on our side.” This statement by Roosevelt, justified just how important war production or for the americans to produce weapons for war is. War production was so important that people had to save metals and convert factories to war production factories in which all regular factories were changed to mostly only factories that produce weapons, armour, and machinery for the war. Furthermore this is supported again in Document 1, “We must stain every existing weapon producing facility to the utmost. We must convert every available factory and tool to war production. That goes all the way from the greatest plans to the smallest from the huge automobile industry to the village machine shop. This statement by Roosevelt justifies that for american industry the community must convert factories no matter how big or small for war production to ensure the United states victory in World war ll. War production was important in the american industry because for war production mass production was one of their strengths with the assembly line producing about 80 thousand throughout the war this is supported in document 2 with the photo showing multiple planes being produced for the wars about 1000s of them that prove that mass production was the U.s strength in war
In this role his challenge was to increase the weapons production amongst all odds like scarcity of labor and raw material and constant bombing by Allied forces. With his exceptional organizational skills he restructured the war industry, each factory concentrate on a single product which resulted in increased production in less time. He also included the German business in the weapon manufacturing to take advantage of their resources and experience. To overcome the sacristy of raw material he set up a central planning board to eliminate the competition between suppliers, so that factories can receive raw material nonstop. Although Germans lost the war in the end but this upswing in the weapon production gave them more time to fight.
The War of 1812 was a major conflict in American history which completely altered the country’s future. Based on previous wars, America gained respect from opponents as a major military power. There were many factors that led to the outbreak of the War of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain. A major factor was the seizure of American ships and the impressment of sailors by Great Britain. Essentially the impressment of sailors was the seizure of the sailors and forcing them into the British military.
The cause of the war of 1812 was the attempts of British to stop our U.S trade and they were impressing our seamen and just our men. Also Americans were trying to expand their land and Britain didn't like that. Then also big thing was the British were stopping our navy ships. Who supported the war of 1812?The war Hawks supported the war of 1812!The war Hawks were a pro group of republicans led by the speaker of the house Henry clay. Also another big supporter was James madison.
The immediate causes of the War of 1812 were a sequence of economic consent removed by the British and French opposed to the United States as piece of the Napoleonic Wars and the Americans upset at the British impressment operation mainly from the Chesapeake event during 1807. “In 1807, British warships attacked the U.S. Navy vessel Chesapeake, killing three, wounding eighteen, and seizing four alleged deserters.” (Henretta, 215) In 1809, the United States’ Congress revoked Thomas Jefferson’s much disliked Embargo Act. In 1806, the Embargo Act paralyzed the American marketing, during this time the United States tried many retaliation type embargoes.
During the war, Canada was Britain’s largest exporter of supplies and war materials. The London Free Press of August 24, 1939 stated that Canada was expected to “lead all the dominions in export of arms and materials to the mother country in the event of war” (Santor, 6). From 1939 to 1945, Canada created a total of 900k rifles, 815k military vehicles, 244k machine guns, 16k aircraft, 6.5k tanks, 3.3k landing craft, 487 escort ships, 410 merchant ships, and 254 navy tugs (Santor, 8). About 70% of all war production manufactured by Canada went overseas. In January of 1942, Canada made its first comprehensive attempt to help Britain finance the war, Canada — knowing that Britain had no feasible way to pay for it — gave Britain war munitions worth $1 billion, nicknamed the ‘Billion Dollar Gift’, as well as an interest free loan of $700 million.
The War of 1812 was pretty eventful. Some of the main reasons it started was because the British were capturing American sailors and making them work for them, and they wanted American ships to stop in Britain and pay a tax if they wanted to share merchandise with any other European countries. This obviously made James Madison, the president at the time, mad so then he told Congress that he wanted to declare war. At first congress said no, but eventually Madison got his war.
The war of 1812 was between the two countries United States a developing country and Great Britain a country that has been thriving for about 300 years. The United States was just now coming out of the Revolutionary War which was about 30 years. The United States won the revolutionary war, but the U.S. had not reached economic independence. The French were ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte which he controlled most of Europe. Napoleon’s plan was to take over all of Europe and then to come to the United States and take control of the U.S.’s land.
Building a nation from scratch to the point where it is able to sustain itself in terms of governance, trade and many other aspects that make up a nation requires a lot struggle. The United States of America, which is currently considered the superpower of all the nations of the world, is not an exception. In fact, it can be used as a perfect example to explain the struggle that many countries have gone through to achieve their current status. It has gone through war to gain their independence from the colonial rule, and they have also fought different wars after that. Among them is the war of 1812 of which many have termed as the second war of independence.
During the War of 1812, the president of the United States was a great intellectual, one of the founding fathers of our nation, and one of the key architects of the Bill of Rights Constitution. That brilliant man was none other than James Madison. On June 1st, 1812, James Madison was the first president to ask Congress to declare war against Great Britain. Events such as Britain putting up naval blockades to stop trade with France, capturing American boats carrying valuable goods, killing, capturing, and practicing impressment on American men, and allying and supporting Indians in the west to engage in battle with Americans were all reasons as to why Madison was pushed into engaging in a war with Great Britain. When looking back on the actions
The war of 1812 proved struggles and hardships for America. The question of why the war was even fought is astonishing still today since Britain did not want to fight the war and agreed to stop interfering with American shipping. However, America decided to precede on with the war. The war did bring on patriotism to Americans.
The production capability of the U.S. has been quite strained during the war time since the requirement of weapons and other machines are high. This caused an unbalanced productivity between daily consumer goods and military equipments. The government’s non-profit input decreased dollar’s value and finally lead to an inflation. The inflation began to rise from 1969 and kept increasing through out the war. American families’ life became
Brandon King History 1301 HW 2 8 AM What were the causes and results of the War of 1812? The war of 1812 was yet another war that the United States got caught up with. There were several reasons as to what caused this war to begin. Let 's go back to the year of 1806 when France declared it to be illegal for “all neutral trade with Great Britain”
Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. Hitler’s aggression was the main reason why Allied powers felt the need to appease. In 1930, after the Reichstag fire, Adolf Hitler rose to power because he was appointed
People started many to be judged based on their ancestor 's many people had to sell their homes or business for prices that were lower than they originally were.(document 5) According to document 3, during the war people will hold scrap metal drives. In order to make tanks, ships, planes, and weapons it required a lot of metal. Americans were told to turn in all of the extra scrap metal. These pieces of scrap metal were all used to make military weapons for the war.
World War I ended in 1918 with the victorious Allied powers, and the peace-promising Treaty of Versailles. However, this treaty 's peace did not last long as its unrealistic demands caused strong resentment within the Central powers against the Allied powers. Territorial losses, reparation payments, and inflation all left Europe in economic ruins. The damage and destruction that resulted from World War I paved a clear path that allowed for World War II to occur. It began in 1933 when Adolf Hitler gained power and, with the help of the Nazi Party, turned Germany in a totalitarian dictatorship.
