It was at this exact moment when I experienced my watershed moment. It was at this exact moment when I realized how even the things that we hate doing the most, are absolutely necessary to us because they define who we are as a person. I realized the issue with my life was not that I wasn’t intelligent, or that I was untalented at gymnastics, or that I had poor multitasking skills or an inability to cope with stress. My issue was my inability to want to get the best out of the advantages that the sport brought me. I had lived my entire life without realizing that all the work that I was putting into the gym was to eventually gain something greater. These greater things consisted of a possibility to receive a scholarship, a higher education, …show more content…
I realized that even the things that we hate doing the most, are absolutely necessary to us because they define who we are as a person, and they could bring us several benefits in the future. For example, the reason a person continues to go to school even if they hate it is because of the benefits they get out of it in the future. The benefits of this example would be related to a job or career, and eventually having the financial freedom, all by doing something that you temporarily despise. Basically saying that no matter how bad things are now, it will absolutely be worth it in the future. After having my watershed moment, I was offended by the fact that I was taught at a young age that we should only do things that we found fun and nonstressful. I was offended by this brainwashing material that was being fed to me when I was too young to understand anything. If I could educate people based off of my realization, I would make sure that we stopped teaching children at a young age that we should only do things that we liked. Teaching children this gives them a false sense of what the future will bring them, and when negativity eventually hits them, they will want to completely stop everything, just as I did. If we taught everyone that any work toward a goal brings negativity, they will approach tasks with an open mind and an idea that whatever they are working for will truly be worth it in the long
With this fundamental change in my attitude, I became a new person and since then I’ve only gotten stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. Without this activity I would have been stunted, I would have remained the overweight introvert who didn’t fit in during middle
Everyone has events in their lives that have significant impacts on them. These particular events are what help shape people into who they are. In my life, one of these events was when I committed to play baseball at Mississippi State University. This event has caused important changes in my baseball career, social life, and my academics. Committing to MSU was a great moment in my life and it has changed my life considerably.
Our American Identity- How does one generation define America today? How does one generation define what it means to be an American? Our lives are filled with chaotic events. Some are good, some are bad.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? My eyes automatically drifted to the tall bright palm tree that moved along with the rhythm of the wind. It’s leafs danced as they presented their welcome. The sun shined down and hugged me with warmth, giving my skin a tingling, but satisfying sensation. I had come from Virginia to California, the famous, constantly spoken of state, that finally reached my sight. The state presented its beautiful attributes to capture my wonder and mesmerization.
This semester has been an ongoing challenge for me but has been an enjoyable one and I have not been presented with any impossible tasks. I have never been much of a writer, and during the course of this semester, I 've struggled to meet length requirements on the assigned essays. However, I do understand that not everyone is an excellent writer or even has to enjoy writing to get a good grade in this 1A class. From the start, with the first essay, I pushed myself to do my best and looked to multiple outlets to polish my writing, such as the online tutor, the writing center, the internet and the writer 's handbook.

Over the this past semester in freshman composition I have learned how to write a college level paper. Going into this class, I was a little unsure and scared that I wasn’t going to be able to do the things that were required for me to do. As the semester passed I could definitely see a change in my writing. I learned how to use the appropriate punctuation, how to write and refute an argumentation paper, which I believe is my strongest piece of writing and how to research and gather information to write a strong research paper. I knew coming into this class that I was going to struggle with my punctuations, word choice, and the overall flow of the paper.
It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific moment in one’s life in which your life is transformed. We often realize that this moment is so signingagent when looking back on personal experiences and don’t realize it at the time. For me, this moment occurred when I realized that I had taken what I love most for granted. It all started back in 2004 when my family suggested that I get into a sport at a young age.
I learned how to manage my time more efficiently since I had to balance my work and education and still do all the activities that make me happy such as playing soccer and badminton with my friends or being part of clubs at my school. Although life does not go by rule; there are times when I think what would happen if my dad was still healthy and I wouldn 't have to work. I wonder what it feels like not to think about paying the rent for a day or being able to spend the weekend without working. Still, at the end of the day when I first bought my mother an iPhone with my earnings, I felt satisfied with myself.
My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
There are many incidents one met in life that change the whole concept of living. Similarly I had an incident which not only change my vision towards life but also to the words you speak and how much they hurt someone enough that you then regret of saying them. It was a very dull morning for me.
