Britain began colonization in America with Jamestown and eventually led to the 13 colonies and the spark that initiated a well-known revolution. From 1763-1776, the end of the French and Indian War, colonial resentment towards British rule grew incessantly because of several acts that taxed the colonists without representation as well as conflict with British troops that led to the American Revolution. The French and Indian war hailed Britain victorious; however, a colossal war debt triggered the end of salutary neglect and the beginning of imperial policies. The first act Britain instigated was the Proclamation line of 1763 mainly for two reasons. One was to prevent colonists from fighting with the Native Americans west of the Appalachian mountain and the other was to maintain control over the colonists in one area, which was near the coast. However, the king did not repeal the Intolerable acts and the start of the revolutionary war began with the Battles of Lexington and Concord. This was the first military encounter between British troops and minutemen and the colonists won both battles. The victory had lifted the colonists’ morale and they spread the news to all the colonies. A revolution had begun, one that would inspire other countries to declare the same values of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. A notable example would be the French Revolution and the upheaval of the monarchs Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette and the rise Napoleon Bonaparte and the formation of a republic, similar to the American government.
