I chose to write about the building of Brunelleschi 's Dome. In the 1400 's Brunelleschi was commissioned to construct a dome for the Florence cathedral. I thought that one of the most interesting things about this article was that Brunelleschi essentially invented tools and lifting technology that would be in use until the industrial revolution. One of the more pressing concerns in regards to the dome being built was how the dome would be lifted onto the cathedral. Brunelleschi, however, had a brilliant idea. He invented an intricate oxen-pulled hoist that could be used at three speeds, and could change directions without having to change the directions of the oxen.
