On February 12, 1675, Lancaster, New England was attacked by Native Americans. The English kept buying the Native Americans’ land, and would not allow them to hunt on their land. They were starving, so they began to fight for their land. During the attack, twelve people were killed and twenty-four people were captured. Mary and three of her children were among the twenty-four that were taken. Five days later, her six-year-old daughter died of an illness. During her captivity, Mary became very religious and learned to adjust, but unfortunately she was a stubborn and selfish person as well.
