The Death of Meriwether Lewis
Meriwether Lewis was an American soldier and explorer. Lewis was Thomas Jefferson’s private secretary, he was then given an offer to lead an expedition with William Clark in the west part of Mississippi. Jefferson bought a piece of land from France which was called the Louisiana Purchase. The land was later handed off to Lewis as he became governor of the land, which caused him to develop enemies. The reason for Meriwether Lewis traveling to Washington was for a settlement about money. Meriwether Lewis was murdered by conspiracy because the pistol that was used was hard to use and control, you needed all of your power to be able to shoot it. There was also 3 different testimonies given from the same person that were all different which questions everything and there is physical evidence that shows where he was shot and how he couldn’t have done it to himself.

He found that one of the shots was to the back of the head which took off part of his skull, and exposed his brain. The second shot was to the stomach and it destroyed the vital organs, both bullets do not have exit wounds. The Medical Examiner himself stated that it is unlikely that the victim could have taken both shots and suicide is also unlikely. The Medical Examiner stated that the manner of death was a homicide and the cause of death was blood loss from the organs. The pistol that was used was very heavy and hard to use, so the possibility of Lewis being able to shoot himself is extremely low. One pistol shot could take out a horse, so 2 shots would definitely kill Lewis and right
Death of Meriwether Lewis Meriwether Lewis was born in Monticello, Virginia. He was famous for being the first presidential aids, also Lewis is known for being “handpicked” by Thomas Jefferson to go on the Lewis and Clark trail effectively and safely doubling the size of the United States. When he came back from his expedition Jefferson gave him the title of Governor of Louisiana. When Lewis died he was on his way to D.C with multiple personal journals about his journey. At that time Lewis was flat out broke having no money after coming out of his expedition.
But since then all records of the trial have disappeared. The messages that Lewis was carrying to Washington were in a code. Since the event the code has been deciphered and it seems there was a code for James Wilkinson but it was eradicated. Wilkinson was interviewed on his involvement with Lewis’s death but he was proven innocent.
Ray Lewis makes over $4 million a year. Priscilla Lollar, one of the victim’s mother wants answers and justice. Lewis pleaded guilty for obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor. Lewis received one year of probation and a $250,000 fine by the NFL. He was charged with two counts of murder but he struck a deal with prosecutors in exchange for his testimony against two of his companions, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting who were acquitted.
Though Mr. Grinder was not home, his wife was, and she offered the travelers room and board. By sunrise the next morning, the 35-year-old former explorer was dead. Meriwther Lewis suffered from depression, dementia, and had a history of alcoholism. Meriwether Lewis committed suicide. People have had multiple claims as to the reasoning of why Meriwether Lewis committed suicide. One being, “He was subject to periodic spells of depression and overwhelmed by personal problems after the expedition” (Suicide Theories). And another being, “He had a debilitating physical disease that caused both his mind and body to deteriorate” (Sucide Theories).

There is many conspiracy theories that captivated the American people, but the most controversy conspiracy theory that leaves many unanswered questions for years is the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Friday of November 22, 1963, the 35th President of the United States, JFK, was shot at 12:30 PM while traveling in Dallas, Texas to appear for the next presidential campaign. Thousands of Americans whom was present at Dallas, Texas just witness the murder of the United States president. Many Americans believed that the United States government was behind the JFK assassination.
It’s the year 1976, the United States Senate has just called for a new inquiry into the infamous assassination of President John F. Kennedy, who was shot in 1963 during his own motorcade in Dallas, TX while running for re-election. The CIA along with the FBI were coaxed into releasing new documents on Lee Harvey Oswald, and individuals who had not given evidence previously were persuaded to come forward. Pieces of evidence such as sound recordings and photographs were being subjected to scientific research analysis using more modern equipment. In 1979 the House Select Committee on Assassinations, or (HCSA), finally came to a verdict that Lee Harvey Oswald shot three times at the president; one of which, hitting his head and killing him. It was also concluded that a fourth shot was taken from ‘the grassy knoll’, which was something that was contradicting to the statement given by the Warren Commission 16 years earlier.
On Sunday, November 13, 1842 a double murder occurred at Smith Farm in Old Fields, Long Island. The victims, Alexander Smith and and Rebecca Smith, were a wealthy, well- respected married couple who ran Smith farm. George Weeks, the Smiths farmhand, was reporting for work the monday after the murder and heard the dog barking from the work-shed by the Smiths house. George Weeks then became suspicious since the dog was usually inside with Mr. Smith. George then looked in the house and saw that the east room window was broken and Mr. and Mrs. Smith were lying on the floor covered in blood.
Meriwether Lewis was one of the leaders of the Lewis and Clark expedition. He was the governor of the Louisiana Territory. Lewis was one of Thomas Jefferson’s most trusted friends to get his money from the government and to deliver something to Thomas Jefferson. During the journey ,Jefferson stopped at Robert Grinder’s inn to rest while James Neely apparently went to look for the missing horses. There, Meriwether Lewis was murdered by a conspiracy.

Thomas Jefferson’s Instructions to Meriwether Lewis discussed the appointment of Lewis as commander of the expedition, gave specific details of the purpose of the exploration, and provided directions for Lewis to follow when carrying out the trip. Thomas Jefferson carefully selected his personal secretary, Meriwether Lewis, to be the commander of the Expedition and trusted that he would be able to perform the tasks assigned to him. Jefferson requested that an abundant amount of precise notes be taken and that they be protected at all costs. He was interested in learning about the people occupying the land, their culture, the ecosystems, and the land. Lennie small was murdered near a creek outside of Soledad many days ago. He was killed by one gunshot wound to the back. The accused, George Milton is being charged with his murder. He is being charged with voluntary manslaughter because he killed Lennie while in a time of passion and out of sympathy for him.
