Abraham Lincoln was the best president because of his dedication to his people. Lincoln may have not gone into battle like George Washington did but in a way he did. Abraham risked his life every single day to try to stop slavery. Slavery is one of the worst things that can happen and also one of the most dangerous things to interfere with. Abraham Lincoln also was a great president because of his love for all people. Lincoln was a very brave man because he stood up for his people in a civil war that could have possibly "torn the country in half" ( Stone paragraph 1). " It was lincoln 's leadership, his commitment to values, and his strong moral fiber that made it possible for america to find its way through the civil war" (Stone paragraph 3),
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were great presidents but i believe that Abraham Lincoln was far better. He abolished slavery and held the country together during one of it's hardest times and doing all this with the pressure of an entire country relying on him. But it would have been better if he wasn't killed during his term I beleive that if he wouldn't have died America would be doing a lot better then it is now Lincoln would have been an amazing president if he didn't die he probably would have served another term or two. Even though everyone loved George Washington, Lincoln was also very popular among the people he also had the potential to make America a way better place.
Abarham Lincoln know a man know for his strength and courage. This man had to deal with the civil war an event that could have torn the country apart. Lincon's mentality and his ability to keep the country together makes him the strongest president we had yet. Lincoln is one of a kind, his strong moral fiber made it possible for the country to push through the civil war and reunite the country back together again. The civil war was one of the most costliest and bloodest in America's history.
I believe that the slaves freed themselves, and that Abe Lincoln only helped make it possible. During the civil war Lincoln was backed into a corner when slavery popped up. He argued that the war was not about freeing slaves but to preserve the union. However, when refugee slaves were found helping the confederacy Lincoln freed them as a contraband of war, as stated by pbs, “Though "contraband" slaves had been declared free, Lincoln continued to insist that this was a war to save the Union, not to free slaves. “.
Who was Abraham Lincoln? Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States and is regarded as one of America's greatest heroes. He preserved the Union of the U.S. throughout the Civil War from 1861 to 1865 and in the end brought about the emancipation of slaves. His rise from a humble beginning to achieve what could be said to be the highest office in the U.S. is a remarkable story. His insistence that the Union was worth saving, unlike the people around him, embody the ideals of the self-government that all nations should strive to achieve.
Abraham Lincoln, looking back, seems like an integral person to America and its history. People today may believe that, but it was actually surprisingly difficult for Lincoln to win his reelection. There were many factors contributing to this uncertainty, one of them being his support of emancipation for slaves. According to USHistory.org, the Democratic Party was split right down the middle about their hopes for the war. Half of the democrats were extremely dead-set on ending the war with a peace treaty, and the other half wanted to continue the fight ("The Election of 1864").
"It was Lincoln's leadership his commitment to values, and his strong moral fiber thay made it possible for America to find its way through the Civil War, and then being the healing process that would eventually lead the nation back to unity once again" (Stone,3). He took a nation rapidly splitting in two, and managed to sew and heal the county's wounds
Abraham Lincoln was one of the best US president. He was born into a poor family. Despite his background he was able become president. He starts to self study law. Lincoln had the idea that states do not have the right to leave the Union.
The best US President, in my eyes, was George Washington. He was a strong character who had to overcome many things in his life. One of the greatest things he had to overcome was unknown to many people. George Washington suffered many illnesses such as: Diphtheria, tuberculosis, smallpox, dysentery, malaria, tonsillitis, carbuncle, pneumonia, and epiglottitis. Regardless of his disease, George Washington was always doing things for other people.
Of the many great presidents, Thomas Jefferson was the strongest. Not only was he a great president, but he also was able to be so involved with teh New American Union even after his time in office. He was on eof the first philosophical thinkers that helped for the foundations of the country, he launched the library of congress, and was the one to provide the inspiration and the funding for the Lewis and Clark Expedition, all of which are important factors to every day life even today. Both Linocln and Washington were among the great presidents as well. Lincoln for example "made a stand against the popular opinion of the time, a decision that would divide the nation" (Emily Stone) about slavery that did significantly impact America.
Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington all had qualities/accomplishments that made them very strong, successful presidents. Abraham Lincoln was the strongest president of the three. He accomplished the most during his time in office. President Abraham Lincoln was the person to end slavery. He had been firmly against slavery and finally ended it with the Emancipation Proclimation.
Coming from humble beginnings to being the head of state, Abraham Lincoln showed leadership in ways that many other presidents before and after him did not. Lincoln was a man of principle.(Barton) Lincoln won over the people by acting as their equal and leveling with them, getting on a personal scale with his people showing no superiority but treating them as if he was there equal. He showed many qualities to his fellow man that made him admirable. He was one of the first presidents to show sympathy for his fellow man no matter what the cause.
James. M Pherson really knows his facts about president Abraham Lincoln. He focused more on Lincoln’s efforts to win the war instead of the other political things he accomplished during his presidency. Lincoln was a great commander-in-chief because he attempted to run the war and also maintain political stability at the same time. This was impressive because although he had no military experience, he was persistent in provoking his commanders to stay active and to always strive for victory.
A common controversy in American history is the fact that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Many claim that he freed them with the Emancipation Proclamation but it’s more complex than that. There were many events that helped free slaves and the Emancipation was only a small portion of America’s journey to freedom and “equality”. In reality, Lincoln helped the process of freeing the slaves but, he did not do it himself. Lincoln was not an abolitionist.
This impact on our country sought out the world’s greatest president was in fact Abraham Lincoln. He accomplished and was successful in many aspects while creating a better life that we all live today. Paludan was correct in arguing that he was the best by what he actually completed. While Bradford argued against why he wasn’t the best, and reasons that the Civil War took place. The war opened many opportunities for generations and future presidents to be voted into office.
Over hundreds of years America has had many presidents, some able to complete the tasks at hand, but many were not worthy of leading this nation. President Abraham Lincoln was one of the few who led the United States of America with great strength and courage. Abraham Lincoln was the best U.S. president because he had a great impact on ending slavery and he was one of the greatest natural strategists and leaders of all time.
