The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths. Before researching more in depth, I believe bad people do bad things and banning guns will not be effective in stopping it. Australia is a great example of a country banning certain guns and the crime and homicide rate have both …show more content…
Guns are more accurate, powerful, and faster than ever before and are nothing any of our founding fathers have ever witnessed. A semi-automatic gun can kill a lot of people in a short amount of time and it is hard to tell when someone is carrying a semi-automatic handgun. Making it easy to walk into public places and commit a mass shooting. Semi-automatic pistols are the leader in mass shooting weapons and many use them to commit crimes. A majority of these handguns are used for home defense and recreation. Pistols aren’t the only problem but automatic weapons are legal in only a few places and the United States is one of them. It is illegal to hunt with automatic weapons, they are only used for home defense and recreation. Is it worth keeping automatic weapons and semi-automatic weapons for home defense and recreation when tens of thousands of people die each year from gun violence? Banning pistols could have the same effect as it did in Australia and reduce the crime rates and
Concealed guns are allowing the public to overcome the dangers in the world, but they are also a danger in many ways. These dangers have lead to many horrific accidents in our present time. These incidents are also causing more people around the world to join in on these events. Concealed guns should be banned because by permitting handguns, it can end up causing more crimes, dangerous people are more likely to carry a gun and endanger the public, and guns can make the public paranoid.
Mass shootings are a serious problem and the U.S. has the most of them every year. People are scared, some so scared that they won’t hardly leave their house. There is all kinds of different things that can lessen the mass shootings. When are mass shootings looked at as terrorism? There is a lot of things to take in to account and look at and some are pretty shocking.
Without a firearm, a criminal will just move to other means, for example a baseball bat, a knife or even their own hands. If a country were to ban firearms, it would just take them out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. Criminals could simply illegally smuggle a gun and use it to rob a house. Unless the victim of a crime also carries an illegal firearm, it will be simple for the criminal to commit that crime. Murder rates can also increase with less firearms.
This sounds like the perfect solution; however, it is not true. Criminals will always find a way to obtain guns, leaving law-abiding citizens defenseless. Since 1976, it has been illegal to own a handgun or to keep any gun from your home unlocked and fully assembled in Washington, D. C.; however, it is the “murder capital of the world” (Kopel). As you can see, banning guns does not eliminate
Is Gun control the answer? These type of questions are being asked by lawmakers. Researchers are saying that taking away all guns is not the answer and are looking for other ways to prevent mass shootings. In the U.K almost all handguns were banned from civilian possession in 1977. Morris M. says “The rate for intentional homicide in the UK in 1996—the year of the Dunblane Massacre—was 1.12 per 100,000.
Taking away guns would just cause more crimes that police force would not be able to keep up with. People claim rifles cause more harm; However taking away rifles will not prevent someone from harming others. “People are killed in greater numbers by cars, bats, hammers, hands and feet. Examining the tool and attempting to ban the tool will have absolutely no effect.” (why gun groups 5).
The asinine idea of gun control Gun violence in America isn’t a gun problem it’s a people problem. By limiting access of firearms you limit the freedoms and right to protect yourself and the ones you love. Not only are the rights of the people being infringed but banning firearms is unconstitutional and unfair to the people. I find it very interesting that people high up in our political system are still so blind to the facts. Less than 1% of all gun crimes are used with legally obtained firearms.
In the past, the major gun control legislations that have been put into effect have not stopped people from obtaining firearms (Gun Control.) There have also been cases in the past where cities have attempted to ban handguns. After the ban was put into effect, murder rates tended to rise instead of drop, unlike what most people might assume. Crime rates and violence also skyrocketed after the bans were put into effect. Another problem with taking guns away, or banning them, is that the government cannot expect everyone to abide by the laws.
The FBI counted 172 cases of mass killings between 2006 and 2011. That does not include some large states such as Florida, for example Poor reporting by police agencies to the FBI also means some mass killings were left out, while others that don’t meet the standard were included” That means that their are a lot of mass shootings and a lot of people dying because of people who have a weapon and because this law was not restricted anyone is allowed to buy weapons. However in most of the mass killings the average age is 31 and the youngest was 14, see how a boy at such a age can get a hold of a weapon. . The most important reason handguns should be outlawed is because too many
Which true and convincing until you realize that even if we do ban guns then yes criminals can still but they illegally from the black market. But consider this, if a criminal saw a XM-15 Bushmaster or another semi-automatic gun sitting on his table, he can just pick it up and go kill people. But if those weapons were banned he would need to go through many blackmarket and illegal places, which may be unreachable to him because of his lack of knowledge. And to top it off most of the people who do a mass shooting against innocent people are not criminals they are just mentally challenged and they probably won't go through the process of going to a black market or purchasing it illegally if they had to. Of course we will never be able to stop shootings but if we make the gun harder for the shooters to get than we could lessen the gun death rate by a
Mass shootings are becoming more common now than in any other period in the history of the United States. Some would say that this is the result of insufficient gun control making guns too readily available and accessible. Others would disagree with this outtake completely. They would argue that not enough people had the ability and know how to be able to fight back. They would argue that not enough people have guns and the ability to correctly handle them.
The media leads you to believe in these days that guns shoot you by themselves and they are some big scary killing machine that is uncontrollable. As a result of this, the left wants to ban guns and is not considering any other options. People should be shifting their attention to other things. The issue is not the guns, it is the people that are using them.
Title: Gun Violence As I write this introduction, I am like millions of others watching the tragedy in Louisiana and Alabama caused by hurricane Katrina. A small but important part of the devastation and the challenge is the existence of individuals and groups of citizens from the area mostly impacted by the storm who used guns against their neighbours and those attempting to assist them. In any other industrialised nation, this will never happen because it will eventually cause the level of socialisation to decline due to the issue pertaining citizens getting the ready access towards guns. Most likely, gun violence is categorised as the most highly anticipated violence around the world because it is growing rapidly and causes
And this is causing a big problem because people are misusing them. Therefore, I believe the guns should be banned in the U.S. It is no exaggeration to say that guns are the key element to cause the instability in the society of U.S. The citizens are possessing guns in U.S. and this is a huge risk for the government and the safety of society itself. According to [http://www.rulen.com/gunban/], 0.004% of the guns-possessions are used in the crime each year, and it is an enormous number.
If they are banned, a psychopath cannot grab a gun and start a shooting spree, killing many innocent people. For example, when UK banned guns in 1996, the homicide rate dropped by 40% by 1997. This demonstrates a connection between homicide rates and gun control regulations. Another example is South Korea, which bans civilians from using guns, as a result, it has one of the lowest homicide rates in the world. In contrast, the the murder rate involving guns in the US is one of the highest.
