Love doesn’t always have to be between two people. It can be self love. In the novel, Juliette learns to love who she is. She may have stumbled and had doubts, but in the end she found a way to love who she truly was. But, love can also be found between two people, like Juliette and Adam. Adam has been working for the reestablishment and hasn 't seen James in years. They are lucky to have each other to come back to. It doesn 't matter how long they 've been away from each other, they treat each other like they never were apart. “‘She can’t touch anyone except for you’...’That seems awfully convenient.’ James narrows his eyes” (Mafi 232). Adam and James being able to joke around and mess with each other keeps their relationship alive. Them being so close shows how much love they have. James and Adam have a bond that keeps each other sane. Them having trust for each other gives them security. “‘Don’t worry I’ll be here when you get back.’ ‘James hesitates.’ you promise?” (Mafi 234). Having trust for someone is showing love for that someone. If there was not trust, how could anyone love someone. James and Adam trust each other and it strengthens their love for each other. Adam and James brotherly love is
All of this, if thought about, smoothly lead to their relationship with Steven. Renee getting so much attention because of her beauty makes her hard to get, and even harder to reject. This means, that when Steven was strong enough to kick her out because of Jeffrey 's vulnerability to illnesses, they 're relationship changed, since now, both Steven and Renee knew Steven was strong and confident in the inside, and not like other boys. This changed their relationship, after some time, for the good. Renee talking about Jeffrey behind his back is also something that made Renee 's and Steven 's relationship go on.
My first reason is that James is protective over Isaac. When the leader of the gang asks why he brought Isaac along, James says “I told you. I can’t leave him alone. What if something happened?”

Once the story starts James has a big decision to make. The author Eve Bunting includes, “ But tonight is going to be different, tonight we’re going out,” this tells me that JAmes is going to leave

For example, Olivia Vandergriff and Nick Hoel are seen in the book to have fallen in love after the experiences they've been through. This can be seen on page 269 when both Olivia and Nick are camping atop a tree as a way to protest, she says to Nick “You know, if one of us falls, the other is going with” and nick responds, “I’ll follow you anywhere”. You can see how just much they are in care for each other in this section. Another pair of characters that fall in love in this book are Douglas Pavlicek and Mimi Ma. Their relationship starts when Douglas and Mimi accidentally meet each other at the site where the town is cutting down trees.
A true friendship must include trust between two people who really care about each other. The novel, “A Separate Peace,” by John Knowles demonstrates the bond between two friends, and how that bond is kept together by trust. This quality can destroy or build a friendship. This proves that although James is trying to or into his family, his emotion(s) put a major roadblock in his path. Another reason that supports this idea is on page 4. ”Listen. We have to stay together. We have to try to keep each other safe. We are brothers, we are family” (95). With Jacob's words to Norman, after being beaten, we are shown in Sharon E. Mckay’s War Brothers, that war can solidify friendly relationships into a sense of family.
Without having these relationships the characters would not get or give support, and would not understand what is morally right. Sudasa would not have helped Kiran escape Koyanagar if she did not learned about the importance of Kiran’s family to him. Paul would not have gotten support from Jimmy if they did not develop and fight for their relationship. After all, the characters learn how relationships help them, and how hard life would be without them. Not only did these relationships help them gain support, but they helped the characters understand each other and why they have to make sacrifices.
This is significant because it shows that Carley thinks Mrs. Murphy is getting close to her so she keeps pushing her away. On top of Toni and Mrs. Murphy, Carley doesn't let the boys, Adam, Daniel, and Michael Eric, get close to her either. Adam and Carley don't really have that much of a relationship together. Their relationship is pretty much non-existant other than the fact that they are foster-siblings.

“The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and a richness to life that nothing else can bring,"(Oscar Wilde). Just thinking about love can brighten a person’s day. This is well portrayed in Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, and often uses allusions to highlight love and its effects. There are also many other allusions that do not involve love in a positive way, including Romeo’s unreturned love and Mercutio’s continuous mockery of love.
