Throughout U.S history, new innovations are being developed constantly. In other words, society has fallen in reliance to the new technological innovations, as a result making the U.S constantly evolve. With evolution, new technological innovations are becoming more and more complex rewriting our history. Although technological innovations have positive effects on society and mankind, it also has its fair share of flaws. Such innovations include but are not limited to is cotton gins and the invention of automobiles. In addition, both the cotton gin and the creation of automobile contribute to the breakthrough in the U.S history.
The invention of the cotton gin has developed a significant role in the United States history. This is because while

For instance, “Eli Whitney's cotton gin revolutionized an essential step of cotton processing. The resulting increase in cotton production dovetailed with other Industrial Revolution inventions, namely the steamboat, which greatly increased the shipping rate of cotton, as well as machinery that spun and wove cotton much more efficiently than it had been done in the past... processing cotton became much easier, resulting in greater availability and cheaper cloth.” (Kelly, Martin. “The Cotton Gin in American History .” Thoughtco, https://www.thoughtco.com/the-cotton-gin-in-american-history-104722). This shows how the cotton gin enables the cotton picking process to be less labor extensive, as well as making the cotton much more efficient to get and purchase. The cotton gin also increased societies wealth in other parts of industry like the steamboat company which transports the cotton goods. However, with the increase in this cash crop, slavery became an even bigger demand than ever. For example, “While it was true that the cotton gin reduced the labor of removing seeds, it did not reduce the need for slaves to grow and pick the cotton...Cotton growing became so profitable for the planters that it greatly
As one of the most influential and successful inventions during the Industrial Revolution, cotton gins brought so many conveniences to the cotton industry, and cotton became one of the fastest way to achieve enrichment. The overweight cotton development made cotton became the only economic resource in the south. Cotton helped the South grow more prosperity in agriculture, but the South still had the industry lags, and even their succeed in agriculture could not save their lack of development in other areas. The southerners relied on the agriculture so much that they ignore the importance of other business. “King Cotton” built a safe disguise to the southerners, which encouraged them to keep using cotton gins to make money because cotton was so important.
Thomas Edison’s invention of the light bulb boosted the production of materials in factories and Alexander Graham Belt’s invention of the telephone expanded communication. Railroads also promoted
Eli Whitney and Cyrus McCormick are two of the most impressive early inventors in United States history. Both inventors had huge impacts on the agricultural field with their respective inventions. Whitney’s cotton gin, which was created in 1793, revolutionized the plantation of the South. Similarly, McCormick’s reaper had the same effect on the North. The reaper had much of the same effect on wheat that the gin had on cotton, allowing wheat field to be picked in a fraction of the time after its use became widespread years after its creation for a neighboring farm in 1831.
Eli Whitney was an influential person in American history because he created the cotton gin. Eli Whitney was also known as an american inventor, mechanical engineer, and manufacturer. Famous for developing the concept of mass production and interchangeable parts. Born on December 8th,1765, in Westboro Massachusetts Eli Whitney went to Yale college, where he studied many conceptions in the areas of science and applied arts. After graduation, in the fall of 1792, Whitney was denied two promised posts as an educator.
Invented by Eli WHitney in 1793, because of the cotton gin it reduced the amount of time and cost of separating the cotton seeds from white fiber. Due to the cotton gin, cotton farming became much more profitable in the South. Because of the cotton gin, the demand of the cotton grew and increased slavery. There was economic consequences due to the cotton gin and the increase of the cotton
In the Northeast innovations such as: textile machines broke out as a result of Samuel Slater’s English plans, the cotton gin and concept of interchangeable parts both created by Eli Whitney, as well as the sewing machine created by Elias Howe then perfected by Isaac Singer all stimulated other innovations making industrialization and manufacturing much simpler. Innovations to make tasks easier were also present in the West including one of the most important, the McCormick reaper which increased the amount of food produced in both the domestic and foreign markets. Although all of these smaller innovations were important to developing the economy, it was the transportation that really set America apart. For example, the Northeast’s economy was greatly furthered by the Erie Canal which linked the Hudson River with the Great Lakes. This effected the value of land along the route as well as industry within the state increased dramatically.
The America of the 1790s remained relatively religiously closed-minded and economically exclusive. First, religions of the time focused solely on white people of British descent. They ignored major marginalized groups such as slaves. In addition, religious leadership remained dominated by the patriarchy; although religious groups of the late 18th century held meetings to plan and to discuss finances, the meetings typically only included men. Ideas surrounding religion also confined themselves to certain doctrines: centralized organizations and their creeds far exceeded individual interpretation in terms of importance.
Lynn Parker The Black Experience 1619-1877 Video Critique #2 The African Americans Many Rivers to Cross The invention of the cotton gin accelerated the production of cotton, consequently, transforming the product into a lucrative crop. Along with the cotton surge, an urgency to acquire more slaves became priority. Black laborers were needed to fertilize land for the manufacturing of cotton.
Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin in 1794.The cotton gin was a machine that revolutionized the production of cotton by speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber so you didn't have to do it by hand. Picking cotton by hand before the cotton gin was invented took an entire day to get one pound of cotton but once people had the help of the cotton gin, sometimes they were able to remove seeds from about fifty pounds of cotton. However, to make a profit off of his invention, Whitney started renting it off to people to use and charging them extra to have him pick the cotton himself. Because the taxes were so high, and he could make the machines, instead of being paid in money, he got to keep three fifths of the cotton that he picked.
Market Revolution took place in the United States during the first half of the nineteenth century. American was marketing the products of goods like sugar, cotton, tobacco and other agricultural products in their nation and oriented to boycott British goods leading to independence. One significant change was the rise of economic, the revolution originated in the southern extension to the north. Within the economic growth, people also made new modes of transportation, improve the roads and ships to help them transport the goods to another colonies. Furthermore, the new invention of steamboat to help American exported the manufactured goods to other place.
Slavery ended in the late 1800s and it was a major controversy to the Northern States. The Northern states were anti-slavery while the Southern states were pro-slavery. Since they were two different opinions because the northern states did not accept or want slavery to keep happening it ended All this slavery controversy and war could have been avoided by simply making slavery legal in all states, replacing the president, and machines being created faster than they were. Also, there were ways they could settle these opinions, and one way is they could have made slavery legal which all the people would have come together and unite as one.
This was the time were products were no longer made at home by hand but instead at factories by machines. This was an important time for many people and their inventions. This was a time that started the American rise to power through big business. Many inventions such as cotton gin, steampower, interchangeable parts, transportation and communication networks (Kelly_8-19) made this rise possible. If it was not for these inventions big businesses would not be able to take off as they did during this time.
With Ely Whitney's invention of the cotton gin, cotton farming drove several changes. Cotton farmers could grow more cotton, considering processing cotton became more efficient with the cotton gin (Schultz, 2013). This change drove increases in land use, the establishment of additional farms, and a sharp increase in the use of enslaved people. These additional farms increased the wealth of southern farmers but caused several environmental problems considering the additional land clearing required to open fields and the soil damage caused by overuse. Social life for enslaved people dropped to inhumane levels, given that enslavers believed social interaction among enslaved people could lead to rebellion and insurrection due to several slave
It revolutionized the cotton industry by making it more profitable. A machine was now used to remove seeds from cotton rather than having to remove them by hand. This allowed more cotton to be processed quicker which made production of cotton more efficient for farmers. Prior to the invention of the cotton gin, slavery was actually dying out in the southern United States due to how labor intensive the removal of seeds from cotton had become.
The invention of the cotton gin decreased labor and increased the production of usable cotton and the demand for items being made from it. Advancements being made in both water and land transportation led to explosive growth in cities and factories; thus improving the national economy little by little. All in all, the revolution taking place in the Americas after the war of 1812 turned the nation into the successful, worldwide marketplace we know of
