In U.S. history there have been many turning points and each of these has had historical circumstances that have led to them. Many of these turning points have resulted in political, social, and economic changes. Two of these turning points are the American Revolution and George Washington’s presidency. These two turning points have made a huge impact in United States history.
There were many historical circumstances that led to the American Revolution, one of them being the Proclamation of 1763. This event led the colonists to feel as though England was controlling them. England continued to control the colonists many years after that with events such as the Tea Act. The Tea Act resulted in the colonists revolting. The Intolerable Acts were then passed to keep the colonists under control. Many colonists were very unhappy with the way the British were treating them including Thomas Paine. Thomas Paine wrote

There were many battles between the British and the colonists. One very important battle is the Battle of Saratoga. This battle was a major defeat for the British and it gave hope to the colonists that they might win the war. In the final battle, the Battle of Yorktown, the British surrendered which ended the American Revolution. The Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonist had free and independent states. Many things resulted from the American Revolution. There was an increase in economic change when the colonists were in debt and it was hard to pay for the war mostly because Congress had no power to tax. Another result was that the colonists separated from England, which was a huge social change. The colonists were no longer dependent on England. A political change that resulted from this revolution was the Constitution, which still shapes our nation
Due to these rebellious actions the British created the coercive acts of 1774. This was use to punish American colonist and Boston for things such as riots and the Boston tea party to be specific. The coercive acts were also known as the “Intolerable acts”. After all this madness came the Declaration of Independence. Which freed all thirteen American colonies from the British government.

The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.
The different acts that were passed to collect taxes angered the colonists little by little until they finally exploded. The Boston Tea Party was a type of protest against one of those taxes. Colonist chose to waste the tea instead of buying it. The colonists were forced to revolt against Britain by all the injustices they made, like the Boston Massacre. British soldiers were not able to hold back their anger and shot 5 people.
The American Revolution had many contributions that allowed it to greatly evolve and make such an important part of history. Culturally The Salem witch trials allowed women to be aware of the injustice they were facing which led them to demand equality. Along with the Great Awakening, that introduced many new religions that lead to conflict within the people. Politically the French and Indian war helped George Washington prepare for leading the continental army. In addition the Declaration of Independence created the separation between the loyalist and the patriots.
After being defeated in New York city, Washington’s troops retreated to New Jersey. They were attacked by the Hessians and were pushed to cross the Delaware River into Pennsylvania. The Continental Army was vanishing, however they decided to attack Hessians in offensive position at Trenton, New Jersey.
1. Throughout the Revolutionary War, there were mainly four key turning points. To begin with, the first key turning took place at the Battle of Saratoga. Because of America’s victory at this battle, it granted America’s request to seek an alliance with France, dramatically changing the direction of the war entirely. Without the French’s support, the American’s would not have been able to have a successful war against the British.
The first big moment in the war is the battle of Bunker Hill, volunteer soldiers with no experience were able to hold of the veteran British soldiers for more than two hours. Eventually they were forced to surrender their position, high ground that had view of the city Boston. Colonists that remained with the British Mindset were called loyalists, a significant battle at Moore's creek was fought between loyalists and the colonists and the colonists prevailed. This quieted the loyalists for a few years in the Carolinas. The British made an attempt to take over Charleston South Carolina but retreat in defeat after colonists on shore made every effort possible to repel them.
In that case, the American Revolution was very revolutionary because there were political, social, and economic changes. Wealthy people lost their money, there was a new government, it made citizens question slavery, and certainly more freedom for the Americans. The American Revolution resulted in the establishment of an independent nation; British colonists became American citizens. That was a vast change in U.S history.
Anderson (2004) stated that the first thing the British did to anger the colonists was place the Sugar, Townshend, and the Stamp Acts. This then led to the Boston Massacre, then the Boston Tea Party, and then finally to the battles of Lexington and Concord. www.history.com (2009) stated that the main point of the battles in these areas was for the British to confiscate weapons to stop them from attacking them in that area. Women and African Americans were given more rights such as the right to vote and slavery was abolished after the revolution. Political changes involved Americans truly separating from Britain by destroying any ties they had with the country and it also involved Americans stating their political beliefs and changes which were different from what they were taught by the British. Social changes included Americans viewing blacks and Native Americans as equals

In France from 1789-1799 the French Revolution(s) was taking place. The French Revolution was an influential series of events that caused many changes in Europe. The French Revolution was influential as the French people wanted self government in Europe, as their was already an established republic in America. The French revolution was the greatest turning point because for the first time since the Roman Republic was their a well established republic in a popular european country.
