Guidepost #1: Consequences of the war The war of 1812 had lots of memorable consequences for the Americans, some short-term and some long-term. In guidepost 2 I will be sharing with you one of the stories that I think is significant about the war. One of the stories that I think is significant is that that the Americans only showed their victories. In other words, The Americans only talked about their victories and not the British ones. for example, In the American war maps, it talks about how the Americans did this and how the Americans did that, but it only talks about how they burnt the white house. In fact, the British burning the white house brings me to my next point about the symbolic part of this story. in one of the articles, it talked about a few things from the war that define the Americans and why they like to be looked at like this." It should not blind us to its significance, for it was an important turning point, In addition, it promoted national self-confidence and encouraged the heady expansionism that lay at the heart of American foreign policy for the rest of the century. Finally, the war gave the fledgling republic a host of sayings, symbols, and songs that helped Americans define who they were and where their young republic was headed." One thing from the war that is very symbolic and representative is they made part of there national anthem from the burning of the white house. they put part of the war in their national anthem
Peter Snow’s book, “When Britain Burned the White House”, details one of the most embarrassing, but influential moments in America’s history, the seizure and burning of the capitol by the British during the War of 1812. Snow provides ample information for the reader to understand the event, such as important figures of both sides, an analysis of the attack, and details of some of the problems within the American command that aided the British’s victory. He also gives entertaining anecdotes and quotes surrounding the time. In reading his book, I was better able to understand the pivotal event of the burning of the White House. Learning about the significant figures of the British and American side through Snow’s narration was important for
Battle of Saratoga: The Battle of Saratoga was very helpful toward the Patriots because it showed the French that they had a chance with this war. Once the French saw they can hold their ground they decided to help them in the war. The reason the French helped them was because at the time the British had the strongest army in the world.

The war lasted more than two years, Canada never fell, and it showed how unprepared America were for war. Many of the laws that were intact were not fulfilled by the citizens. New England States were slow ti raise more troops, Certain New England merchants still carried an illegal trade with
However because of the war, relations between English and French would divide even more due to conflicting opinions, on whether the war was Canada fight or not. So the result of the war did have its negative effects on post war Canada. Regardless because of the war Canada came out as a both stronger and healthier nation, for without the war we may not have received the recognition, the respect, admiration and most importantly the eventual full independence from Britain. For if the war never happened we may not be the nation we are
The United States participation in the Great War changed America in many ways. The first major change was the sense of being American. The War of 1812 ended with the Treaty of Ghent, but who was the overall winner? It is thought, that the Americans were the winning party, and the British was the defeated party. There are some other groups and nations that either won, or lost the war. In my opinion, the Americans won the War of 1812 because they won more battles.
The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. Thesis The war of 1812 is the most significant for the first nations as they were betrayed, lost power and lost the most land. The war of 1812 had many negative consequences on the first nations people, for starters the first nations lost land. In 1815, the United states signed an agreement with various first nations stating that the United States would give back the land that the first nations had before 1811, although the United States never gave back the land and rather pushed the first nations north and west off their territory.
2,000 highly trained British soldiers died compared to only about 13 American soldiers. At this time the British were the military force but they made so many mistakes it was hard to believe, one example is that they forgot to bring ladders to climb up the ramparts. The history book publisher wants to take out The War of 1812 just so we can save money. The publisher doesn't think The War of 1812 is necessary to learn because it wasn't important and it didn't help shape our future. We should keep The War of 1812 in our textbooks because it is a show of respect for those who had fallen, if we don't keep the war in it will almost be like all the American soldiers did was for nothing because nobody will know how we got where we are today
Effects of the French and Indian War The French and Indian War was a major turning point in American history because it had wide-ranging effects that paved the way for the American Revolution. The later part of the war is also known as the Seven Years War, which was the first major global conflict in American history. Although the British came out victorious, the French and Indian War left them broke and planted the idea of independence into the minds of the colonists.
Causes and Effects of the War of 1812 One major cause of the war of 1812 was that the British Royal Navy was impressing Americans. At least 6,000 mariners claimed to be citizens of the United States, when in all reality, they weren’t. The Chesapeake- Leopard Affair would be an example of Americans being impressed by the British. The British approached the American ship, asked for 4 sailors and the Americans refused. The British then took the 4 sailors and then fired on the Americans.
It is words that win wars, and throughout history moments have been defined by speeches, proclamations and documents. They shape political policies, rules and inspire change amongst men, they can start and end wars, rally troops and put the fear of god in men. The American revolution was no exception. During the course of the war many important letters, reports and political bills were written on both sides, giving historians and the general public a better understanding of the events and sufferings that formed a country and shaped democracy as we know it today. One of the most influential of these came from the British, a proclamation made by Thomas Gage on behalf of King George III of England.

The Impact on the American people changed how Americans thought, the American economy, and American social society system. The war was an unethical terrible thing for the United States to get involved in because it did not help or improve the United States. The U.S. although may have gained some new techniques of producing the war did not equally give to the U.S. good policies. In the beginning of world war one the United States did not join the war, but by the end of the war the United States will become a major proponent of the war. The start of the war was caused by the increased militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism.
