Personal Response:
I thought this was a good book and it got right to the point. I liked how the author made Lucas 's family a part of the fire department. It gave it an inside look on how the firefighters were affected. I really liked that there were facts about the real September 11th at the very end of the book.
Plot:
Lucas was on his way to see Uncle Benny to talk to him about football. When he got there Lucas saw a plane flying low, headed right for the World Trade Center. Uncle Benny told Lucas to stay at the fire station while the rest of the firefighters went to the scene. Lucas couldn 't stay behind and watch on tv because, he was worried. Once he got to the Twin Towers he saw his dad. When one of the towers fell his dad got them

He also enjoyed being at the firehouse with his father and Uncle Benny. On September 11, 2001 two planes hit the World Trade Center. After the plane hit there were airplane parts such as a tire laying in the street. Lucas and his father hid in a store when one of the towers fell down.
Thematic Connection:
I think the connection in this book was to value family. I think this was a reminder that anything bad could happen unexpectedly to a loved one. There were several horrors that day such as four plane crashes and thousands of lives lost. Not only were there thousands of lives lost but many families had to mourn over their losses. People should live their lives to the fullest and be happy with every moment. To tell our family they are loved everyday and not fight over stupid arguments.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to boys and girls at the middle school age. I feel like this would be good for the high school students, because this tragic event happened when they were very young. I also think it 's important the middle school students should read this, because they should know what happened on that day. It would be educational for the young kids to learn from the book, and ask their parents their
What I think was good was the action. I think it was good how he describe everything like when the towers were falling and the author said it was loud that it sounded like thunder. So if you like action and nonfiction books then the Heroes of 9/11 is a good book to
It shows an important part of history that is to be learned from, and never to be repeated. This is a great story about the war time struggle of an entire race of people held captive by their own
No Hero's at Ground Zero September 11th 2001, was a time where an “Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States.” Two of the of the planes did make it to the buildings. Both buildings were struck around 9 a.m. “The third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.”(9/11 Attacks).
Then 6 hours and 24 minutes later at 5:56 WTC 7 collapses. Then at 10:56 they are still finding survivors under the rubble. On 9/12/01 the are finding the final survivors and on 9/13/01 they created the “Homeland Security.” Then on 9/14/01 the president visits “ground zero.” 10/7/01 American and British forces attack Afghanistan.
Fifteen years after the fateful date of September 11, 2001, this school year marks the first year that almost no American high school freshman was alive for the day forever engrained in America's past. Anyone old enough to remember that clear Tuesday morning can pinpoint what he or she was doing when the press released the astounding news: a plane had crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. No matter how routine their day may have been, most witnesses can at least recall their feelings, as the American sense of safety would forever be tainted. As the world watched in dismay from their televisions, the state inside the World Trade Center was declared an emergency. Those on floors 78 through 84, where the first plane ripped
Timothy Mcveigh was born in Lockport, New York on April 23, 1968. He graduated from U.S. Army Combat Engineer School, and is infamous for the Oklahoma City bombing. This man is responsible for the deaths of 168 people, including children that were in the building's daycare. He had filled a truck with explosives and drove into the building full speed before saving himself. 800 others were terribly injured.

Every American knows of the horrifying terror attacks that took place on September 11th, 2001, in New York and Washington, DC. The terrorist organization al Qaeda hijacked four airlines and flew two of them into the World Trade Center in New York, and one of them into the Pentagon in Washington. The fourth plane was stopped mid flight by its brave passengers and did not reach its intended target. Innocent civilians were now the casualties of war waged by an extremist muslim terrorist group based out of Afghanistan. The United States had never witnessed any terrorist attack of this size on its own soil previous to 2001.
1. Acts of terror not only cause human injury, and often death, and property damage, but they also disrupt social order. Prevention of these devastating tragedies, keeping the peace, and apprehension of those responsible, are primary duties of law enforcement officials. 2. The attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 occurred when I was in eighth grade.
In his “9/11 Address to the Nation” the 43rd President of the United States of America, George W. Bush assures that America will not be affected by the unruly and evil attacks carried out on September 11th, 2001. The President drafted this speech to resist the impending fear and questioning that American citizens around the country would soon be consumed by. Because 9/11 was the most impactful, yet devastating terrorist attack on the United States to date, Bush was not able to derive his thoughts from others’ ideas and speeches, thus he was forced to dig deep and extract the emotions and thoughts aroused by the “despicable acts.” Much like any great leader, President Bush wanted to stress the importance of instilling a sense of pride and resilience in the country and fellow countrymen and women to come together and remain as one. As the head of the “brightest beacon of freedom and opportunity” President George W. Bush declares that the United States of America will “remain strong” and appear unaffected as the country continues to build and rebound from the senseless acts of terrorism and hate.
In the North tower eleven people were trapped in a conference room. Smoke began to fill the room. the people called their loved ones like they would never get out. They were sure they were gonna die in that
Have you ever seen something so horrifying, so disheartening, that you couldn’t even bring yourself to look away? Well, that was most of the population on September 11, 2001. Most were absolutely stunned, not able to even process what they just witnessed. In “From Terror to Hope,” by Kristin Lewis, we learn about a young girl who witnessed the September 11 attacks. Not only were thousands of innocent lives taken on that day, but soon after, a certain religion called Islam was attacked.
The attacks of September 11, 2001 on our country was one of the most tragic and deadly days in our history. It brought a country together and the American strength of freedom and unity became a battle cry. After the dust had cleared, the questions came about that asked, how could this have happened? Were there not security and intelligence infrastructures and policies in place?
“If we learn nothing from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” This quote comes from Sandy Dahl , the wife of the pilot on flight 93. When thinking about 9/11 this quote comes to mind because on that particular day, the world was reminded how short life really is. This quote also intertwines with 9/11 because it teaches us how there is no time to hate, but to move forward and help each other hand in hand. Even though I was only a year old when September 11th happened, I want to understand this horrific event that went down in history of the United States.
“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.” George W. Bush delivered this speech on the night of the September 11 attacks. The shattered steel of the Twin Towers, once towering the New York City skyline, forever changed America and its response to terrorism. The largest foreign attack on U.S. soil appropriately gave reason to Americans to recoil in fear and lose trust in the future, but in reality, the country displayed the opposite reaction.
