My rhetorical analysis is Stephen Curry believes he is the best basketball player in the world. Stephen Curry is currently the reigning MVP of the NBA and he won the NBA Championship the same year. He started right where he left off last season as he is carrying the warriors to potentially have the best record at the end of the season in NBA history while again putting up MVP statistics. Curry is currently having a highlight year and is not being considered the best shooter ever. Curry says that he is the best basketball player in the world. Many sources can defend his statements. One sources is ESPN and the other is Sports Illustrated. The author of the ESPN article about Stephen Curry is by Dave McMenamin. Dave is a Staff Writer and writes …show more content…
After Curry won the MVP obviously he was asked questions like if he thought he was the best player in the world in and in the NBA. Curry responded "In my mind, yes," Curry said when asked by Time magazine, in an interview published Wednesday, whether he was the best player in the world. "That's how I have confidence out there that I can play at a high level every night." From this article you can tell he knows that he is the best and that he believe it. In the ESPN article Dave talks says via stats that current leader in PER, plus-minus and points per game. These are huge statistics and are going to help him win his second NBA MVP and most likely another NBA champion because he’s become impossible to guard and his team is as well. What the authors are trying to accomplish is to show that Curry is indeed the best there in the world and that Curry himself believes that he is the best as …show more content…
The audience will agree with the article and Curry’s opinion because it’s true. His current team’s record, his MVP last year, and his current stats defend it. The relationship between the reader and the author is that the reader can be any person that watches the news. Like I said before Curry is all over the news and has become the face of the NBA. NBA fans, sports fans, normal people are all reading or watching Curry. You don’t have to be a NBA fan or even a sports fan to read the article or agree with Curry’s opinion. The influencing factors surrounding the current event is that NBA is becoming very popular and Curry becoming the face of the NBA. The visual artifact of Curry being the best player in the world is off YouTube. The videos show proof that Curry has indeed become the face of the NBA and is the best in the world. This changes everyone’s view because you go from trusting stats and the Curry’s opinion to seeing both them come together. The videos makes you say “wow!” because what you are shocked and surprised to see what he is actually capable of doing from reading it on paper or a screen to seeing it live or in a recorded video of him in
Dellavedova held the NBA MVP Stephen Curry to an average of 10.1 points per 100 possessions compared to the 20.7 points when Dellavedova was on the bench. In the Game 5 win over the Warriors Dellavedova held Curry to 19 points and forced Curry into 6 turnovers, BUT defense is only half of basketball. Those same people believe that Matthew Dellavedova should
LaVar Ball and his sons have been the talk around the country, especially LaVar he has been saying a lot of outlandish things through his and other NBA legends and current players. LaVar has cause a some controversy towards the statement he has imply during his interview on shows and reporters, putting a lot of pressure on his sons, especially Lonzo. In his article “ Ranking Lavar Ball’s 10 most outlandish claims about himself and his sons” Andrew Joseph discussing the outrage claims statement of LaVar Ball towards himself and his sons. LaVar Ball went on to say his son Lonzo will be better than Stephen Curry, “I’ll tell you right now, he’s better than Steph curry to me”-LaVar Ball (1).
How to eliminate NBA's intentional foul rule: An analysis of Tom Ziller’s article Many NBA fans find themselves sharing similar feelings during the fourth quarter of many games. The game is almost tied up, and then all of a sudden the team then starts intentionally fouling a bad shooter to get them to the free throw line. The intentional foul rule is one of the most questioned things of today’s professional basketball games. Tom Ziller, a writer for Sbnation, believes that the rule of the intentional foul should be taken away or be changed.
He takes instances such as the historic start to the season that Warriors had and makes it seem like it was easy to do. Banks states that “16 wins that made up the Warriors’ historic start, 13 of those victories came against teams… who all rank in the bottom nine in the league.” This bold statement makes a historic NBA record look like something that wasn’t difficult to do. He then continues to make the warriors look appalling by informing the audience on how the Bulls had to go up against tougher competition than the Warriors are facing. Banks says that “in an era that was defined by superstar big men like Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, David Robinson and Alonzo Morning, the Bulls went 12-2.”
From Peoria Illinois, to Oakland California and everywhere in between, Shaun Livingston is proof that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t talent doesn’t work hard. The Beginning 2004 Livingston is warming up in an empty arena in Brooklyn, he’s a part of the best team in the NBA over the last few years. After running drills with some of the NBA elite such as Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant he’s surrounded by hordes of reporters during his media scrum asking questions about the Warriors. He’s answering all questions with a smile on his face.
Ken Butler, the author of “The NBA Opens its Doors to a Virtual Basketball League” uses the rhetorical devices of ethos and logos. He uses his writing to make his point about how eSports should be considered as sports and treated that way to his audience of fans of sports. Altogether, Butler was effective at reaching his audience with his intended message. In the middle section of the article, Butler uses ethos to help support his point.
In K.C. Johnson’s article, “Criticism Doesn’t Deter Rose,” Johnson uses the testimony of Derrick Rose to discuss his opinion on whether the public is holding professional athletes to unrealistic standards, specifically when it comes to dealing with injuries. Derrick Rose, a point guard for the Chicago Bulls, has been dealing with public scrutiny ever since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in 2012 and refusing to play the following season (par. 5). Rose reasons that the fan base did not understand the long term health implications associated with playing injured and that by sitting out, he was protecting himself from a potential career-ending injury (par. 3). His testimonial relies on the support of team doctors and other star player to support his claims. These experts as well as the testimonies of star players, like Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony, establish the author’s credibility.
When I first signed up for sports communications the last thing I thought I’d be doing was not only meeting people like Mike Breen, Jim O’Connell, Steven Sheer, and Joe Yanarell, but speaking to them on a first hand basis and getting to know about their line of work. Each and every speaker not only told us about their line of work but told us about their stories on how they got to where they are and why try fell in love with what they do along the way. The three speakers that stood out to me the most were Mike Breen, Jim O’Connell, and Steven Sheer, but I would like to quote Joe Yanarell on a couple statements that seem to fit into each and every one of these men’s stories. First off, Mr. Yanarell said “you are going to fail and learn from it.” This quote goes a long way
Close to the end of the motion picture, Jim is going to exchange Herbie for a Lamborghini 400GT, however then he understands that Herbie is all he needs. They enter a race, and against overpowering chances, they win. The lesson of the story is that champions now and then arrived in an unassuming bundle. So why all the Internet loathe for the Steph Curry 2 Lows?
Being the one who did the most when it mattered the most qualifies you as the best. Combined with the fact that he won all six of the times he appeared in the NBA Finals,
Did you know that Michael Jordan averaged about thirty points a game, and retired with six NBA championships. The debate between who the best basketball player of all time has been going on for many years. Two of the names that come up a lot in this conversation are Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Many of the reasons why this decision can never be agreed on is because of many things. Those things including statistics, how many NBA championships have been won, and what you have been awarded with by the league and sports analysts throughout your career.
Now, I will admit that I am a LeBron bandwagon, that is someone who loves whatever team LeBron James is on solely because LeBron James is on it. I had already been to a game the year before, but LeBron and Kyrie Irving were both injured and stayed in Cleveland. In this game, Kyrie was out, but I got to see LeBron James, my idol, in person. He started off slow, but eventually, picked it up with some dunks that brought me to my feet. On one of them, Lebron stole the ball mid-pass and sprinted to the other end of the court for a one-handed tomahawk.
Stephen Curry is an anomaly. He pulls opposing players into his orbit based on the threat of his shooting and exerts gravity over the entire floor as he darts around on offense. In terms of forcing other team 's coaches to make adjustments, Curry might be the most impactful player since Shaquille O 'Neal, whose mix of size and nimbleness had never been seen before or since. But unlike O 'Neal, who often coasted on his ability to dominate physically, Curry works hard to get better every year.
The Title is Stephen Curry, the inspiring story of one basketball's sharpest shooters. The author is Clayton Geoffrey's .The Genre is nonfiction, and about basketball. The general content of the book is about Steph Curry playing in the NBA and before the NBA. I learned that Steph Curry actually had to miss his first ever middle school basketball game because he had not completed his chores like he was supposed to, he was supposed to wash the dishes but didn't, Stephs mom Sonya found out that he had intentionally did not wash the dishes and didn't let him play.
These athletes get a lot of publicity and fame for perfecting the art of scoring. An example of players like this would be Stephen Curry, James Harden and Kevin Durant from the NBA. Also scorers from the NFL would include Adrian Peterson, and DeAngelo Williams just to name a few. In this current season of the NBA, Stephen Curry leads the charge with an average of 29.8 points per game. Following close behind is James Harden with an average of 27.7 points per game and in third is Kevin Durant with 27.4 points per game (“ESPN.com”).
