Artifact Description This artifact was created for and with a student to aid her in making connections between education and careers. I was to create a student portfolio to help a student with college admission, career interests, and scholarship applications. During this process, the student and I worked with her teachers, her mother, and Oklahoma State University. We all collaborated to provide the student with information she will need to develop an academic and career plan (AR.1.5, AR. 1.8, AR.3.5, and AR.8.3). While I made an electronic portfolio for my class, the student I was working with received a physical copy which she used to help her navigate the college admission and scholarship process. Creating this student college career portfolio required that I have a firm understanding of career theories and models. I was able to involve the student with personality, career and interest inventories, which helped her refine her college search. It is vital that the student sees the connection with her strengths, personality, and family influences on her education and choices for post-secondary plans (AR 3.3, AR 3.5 and AR 3.6). Working through this process required that I have a familiarity and knowledge of current career theories and models (AR 3.2). The student and I had to navigate course requirements necessary to be accepted into college, but could do the same for vocational training, an apprenticeship or the military (AR 3.5). As we discussed scholarships, her mother and I deliberated over other financial aid options and how to fill out the FASFA (AR …show more content…
It will be necessary for me to aid my students in understanding and implementing career planning strategies. Once a student decides on a career interest path, I can help students navigate course requirements necessary to be accepted into vocational training or college either 2 or 4-year institutions. I should also be able to advise students about extracurricular activities, internships, and volunteer pursuits that will increase their chances to be admitted to college/vocational technical school and possibly receive scholarships, and what ACT/SAT scores and GPA are required. I will aid my students in setting up a deadline calendar so that the necessary forms will be submitted by the required date (AR
Going into my senior year of high school, I was forced to make some fairly large decisions about my future, as were most teens my age. Before making the decision to attend California University of Pennsylvania, I was looking into what career was best for me, and what I wanted to achieve in my educational career. This was a lengthy and difficult process, but in the end, it led me to the path I am traveling today as a student at California University of Pennsylvania. When it came to deciding what I wanted to major in, I was very unsure.
For this outcome I chose the CE 240 Unit 6 assigment. With this artifact a demonstrate my knowledge of appropriate observational and assessment techniques and planning for children and their families. Lindsey Pollak provides suggestions to ease the transition from student to career for the recent, or soon to be college graduate. The lucid writing style she uses in her book provides a sense of comfort to an inevitably stressful period in our lives. Pollak start’s off the chapter encouraging the reader to not worry about the things we have not done, or should have done. It would be easy for me to get caught up on the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve.
When it comes to this semester, things for me are going well. So far in the course, I have been able to get all my homework and reading entirely on time and not rushing things at the last minute. This week nine discussion I thought gave us a chance to showcase what well learned on the aspects of resume building and higher education career development for individuals. A lot of the information of have learned from week nine will assist in my research into the final project for this course. Learning about the news about career counseling in setting in scenes like elementary, high school to higher education’s makes us focus on the individual and what they want their future to look like.
Artifact and Description for S1 edit title Edit I have attached my “Long-Range Plan” as a demonstration of my ability to exhibit biblical principles. This artifact demonstrates my understanding of exhibiting biblical principles because it includes different learning strategies, assessment techniques, and accommodations that could be used to reach a variety of learners within the individual classroom setting. This particular skills outcome is important in early childhood education because my personal and professional behavior can impact the young students view of education for years to come. By exhibiting biblical principles, I can build positive relationships, show care towards others, and practice equality and fairness in my teaching.
Many students out of high school take the next step in extending their education by attending college. At the same time, how they choose the right school is one of the most burdening decisions in the secondary education process. Before going to college, the student must start the process to figure out their interests and where it can take them. Once this has been determined, they can start the application process to colleges that will assure success. Unfortunately, many parents of young adults impose limitations to their choices.
Focus 2 Assignment – Reflection Upon completing the Focus 2 career assessment program, I am quite impressed at the quality of information it presents. It allowed me to not only look at careers that would fit my personality, but also those that take into consideration the fields I am already interested in. Also, as with any form of self-assessment, there were strengths and weaknesses that I did not expect based on how I feel I live my life currently. Beginning chronologically, the program had me complete two subjective, current measures of my professional career.
My main focus in this semester is which college is best for me and what career I'm officially pursuing towards. I have grown as a student in College Career Readiness and in Knowledge. I took the liberty to organize a document for myself that organizes the information about the universities I'm interested and has the major I'm looking for. College Board has
This conversation showcases the vital role a mentor can play in guiding and supporting individuals in achieving their goals. In the context of post-secondary education, this lesson encourages students to seek mentors, whether a professor or career counselors, who can provide valuable guidance and support throughout their educational
In Derek Bok’s essay, “Preparing for a Career,” Bok challenges that idea that liberal arts and vocational training are world’s apart. Instead, he gives a different point of view that maybe the two fields of study are two sides of the same coin. While getting a professional education is important, job training is just as or even more so important. However, job training on its own has its drawbacks as well, so combining the two has merit. Philosophy, creative arts, humanities, etc.
I want to be able to apply my learnings in real-world scenarios and make a positive impact on individuals. In terms of my talents, I believe my developer theme will be the most instrumental in helping me fulfill my dreams and desires for college. Its ability to recognize and cultivate the potential in others will allow me to help my peers and classmates grow and develop alongside me. To further develop my talents, I plan to develop my adaptability skill by engaging in extracurricular activities that challenge me to adapt to different environments and circumstances. This theme will help me to navigate the ever-changing landscape of college life and ultimately contribute to my overall success.

Artifact #1: What’s My Sentence, Name Card and Self Image My first artifact is my beginning of the year self projects. These were little assignments that helped myself and the class figure out out who I was, who I am and who I will be.
Student counselors have been around since 1907 in the United States and remain a strong force in helping students determine future goals and careers. On average, student counselors make roughly $54,000 annually while maintaining a vital role in the decisions students make.
