I have chosen to get my Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Kaplan University, because of the high demand in the healthcare profession. As a Healthcare Administrator, I am required to have strong communication skills and leadership ability. Being an administrator I must be able to make decisions and delegate authority, while managing all levels of medical and administrative personnel. Our job is to manage, direct and coordinate medical services in a variety of settings. It is our responsibility to know the skills and knowledge of medical services, as well as the laws that govern the industry. Following the Health Leadership Competency Model, a nurse leader can meet the challenges of navigating through the complex diversity of today's’ ever-changing health care environment. Competencies are necessary for nurse leader to provide a framework for documentation assure performance, and encourage continued development/training of staff. The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.

They must be able to adjust their behavior to each situation, but must understand that conflicts will occur between different expectations in the code of ethics. Other expected behavior for a healthcare administrator is that one shouldn 't misrepresent one’s qualifications and shouldn’t misrepresent facts when communicating with other professionals during business activities.
