I did not choose their specific fields; however, I chose something that I knew fit me.
When I picture myself, I have faced many challenges in my life and realized how much i’ve grown and changed from them, just in the last year. The most important challenge that I am proud of myself for accomplishing is becoming a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Obtaining this certificate was a huge step in my life from childhood to adulthood. I became an LNA because my mother encouraged me to since she knew I always wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a child and I love helping other people out.

Hi Matt, this is Logan Sanders. After completing the preliminary Residential Assistant training I was not placed in a position. However, I was told by Shannon Jolley that "you are the very first person on our alternates’ list and will likely be awarded a position, even in the next few weeks". I received this email in early March, and understand that it I was not guaranteed a position. Regardless, I wanted to make contact to say that I am still interested in taking a position if one becomes available.
Why do you want to be a Resident Assistant again next year? I want to be a RA next year again to keep improving the lives of students on campus through building community, planning programs, and being available to residents. First I want to build community by making everyone in my house feel welcome and appreciated. Welcoming starts on move in day and continues throughout the year with conversations and having an open.
Resident Advisors fulfill many requirements from mentor to role model to someone of spectacular organizational skills. It’s important for a Resident Advisor to be someone that residents can come to when they’re struggling in any aspect of their life and that advisor can direct them to the resources that are available here on campus for that problem. I understand that it would be my responsibility to create a safe space for my residents where they feel that they can be themselves and that they are at home. It’s also my responsibility to watch out for the well-being of my residents since for many of them this will be the first time they will be away from home. I believe that an excellent Resident Advisor ensures that each and every resident
I began my undergraduate education at Colorado State University in 2004. I declared my major as Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. At this point in my life, I had no clue what I wanted to do for my career and thought this would be the best option and give me the most diversity of career options. Going into my sophomore year, I began a job in the emergency department at the hospital located in the college town. During my first day, I got to see a variety of emergent and non-emergent medical procedures.
Re: Letter of Recommendation for Joshua Whiting To The RA Selection Committee: I write on behalf of Joshua Whiting’s application for a Resident Assistant position. I believe Josh to be an exemplary student-scholar as well as a person of tremendous character with significant leadership skills. I met Josh in my first semester of college in our biology class. We were both Biochemistry majors so we got to skip Biology 1 and therefore were both new to this new world of college but already in a group full of sophomores and students who had been in college for multiple semesters. Naturally we gravitated to each other due to this aspect we had in common.
Holding an RHA position requires a plethora of skills in leadership, personal balance, academic balance, professional balance, and communication. Currently I am seeking a future in the Resident Assistant (RA) positon which will allow me to learn and utilize these skills when providing conflict resolution and creating relationships within my hall. In order to get a better understanding of many different aspects that go into being an RA, I interviewed a current RA named Bayleigh____ and asked her about the several different factors that relate to her personal life and the job itself. She explained her position and how it directly affected her life as a student as well as the personal challenges she faced regularly. The interview provided me with
Resident Assistants serve many purposes and play many roles in the community. They help to build and promote a supportive and active community within their residence hall and across the campus, and offer support and guidance to their residents. This aids in making Geneseo feel more like home and a community rather than simply a school. RAs enforce Geneseo and Department of Student Life rules, while also being a more easily accessible and less intimidating resource to other students in need of help. I want to be an RA so that I can become more involved in the Geneseo community in a positive way, by helping and representing other students.
