This week’s lesson seriously puts us in our proper places. When things aren’t going the way we want them to go is that a sign that God is too busy to care about us; maybe He is just taking a nap. Inattention by God is the only logical answer for us not having an immediate response to our problems. We know that God can take the time to converses with people because we have written records of God speaking directly with individuals. Several examples of God making personal contact with individuals are found in this week’s lesson. God spoke to Jacob in a dream. Genesis 28:10-17. Moses was herding sheep when he saw a bush on fire; a bush on fire that was not being consumed must have been a startling sight. Ex. 3:1 & 4:17 Of all things would you expect to hear God almighty speaking to you in a small voice? 1 Kings 19:9-18. If it would have been me asking God instead of Job I think my questions would have been endless. …show more content…
Isa.6 Zechariah and Mary where spoken to by God not directly but by the angel Gabriel. Luke 1:5-38. The mighty and self-sufficient Saul who was on an important mission to decimate and imprison Christians in the name of the ruling Jewish Sanhedrin had a very personal conversation with God while lying in the middle of the dusty Damascus Road. Acts 9:1-9. The book of Revelations was written by the Apostol John after God spoke directly with him on the island of Patmos. We can read God’s interaction with John in Revelations 1:9 & 3:22. This week we reached the stage in Job’s life where God finally spoke directly to Job from inside a whirlwind. I don’t know about you; I think If it would have been me speaking with God instead of Job, my why questions would have been endless. God why did you take all of my children away from
Instead of encouraging him and speaking the truths of the Lord, they blame and discourage him, assuming that everything that is happening to him is due to his own fault. This verse’s significance also rises from the fact that it reveals that Job only needs and only relies on the Lord. Even though his own friends turn against him and falsely accuse him, Job’s faith is not shaken and he continues to seek the Lord. This fact shows Job to be faithful, perseverant, and dedicated to his Father. Job knows that the wicked, perhaps including his friends, are “reserved for the day of calamity…and…will be led forth at
They said he would listen carefully when spoken to and would give you full attention while you spoke. The people who knew
In general, humanity forgets the message from the book of Job and at moments curses God blaming him for all humanity 's disgraces. It is important to remember how God gave Satan approval to disturb Job by leaving him in his hands. Therefore, this provides evidence that God test 's humanity, but his hand is not involved in the process, as it is represented in (Job 1:12) “The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”
Many of the lessons that I have learned and that have stuck with me were lessons that I have learned in the midst of a struggle, and sometime through positive situations. I personally believe that in my life I can hear God most clearly when I am most vulnerable; such vulnerability comes from the situations that I have experienced suffrage or loneness. Sadly, but honestly when I am happy I don’t long for answers to as many question as I do when I am upset or angry. But it is when I am sad or angered that I feel God’s presence comforting me and that is when I release my fear unto him and find peace.
However, he never leaves them in times of tragedy and grief. This theme of God being ever so present was supposed to be directly targeted right at the reader so they too may believe that God is always with
To end the story a thunderstorm rolls in and Prometheus is left chained to the rock. The Book of Job is a story about a man who “feared God and turned away from evil” (Job 1:1, ESV). He was a very wealthy man who had ten children, many livestock, and many servants. Satan speaks to God one day and God gives him permission to test Job’s faith. Satan begins by taking away Job’s children, killing his livestock,
They sat with him for seven days and seven nights without saying anything, for “they saw that his grief was very great.” But when they did start talking, they each individually accused Job of having sinned. They said he must have done something against God to be in this much of an affliction. They didn’t comfort him or strengthen his faith with God’s word. Job told them he had not sinned, but they didn’t believe him.
An example of this is when Cole had been attacked by the Spirit Bear and the baby birds died. He wondered why and how this could happen. God does many things that we don’t understand. What we do understand, is that God does everything for a reason. Everything that happens to you is part of God’s big plan for you.
The message we can take out of this is that when times get hard God will always be there. We may not think he is there but he is always there like a mother and a father. Knut M. Heim a professor of old testament at Denver seminary writes “ This psalm gives us hope for the here and now, hope for life before death, in whatever dark night of the soul or body we may experience (63)”. The message renews the fact that even when times may be bad and when we feel like God is not present he is always there. The path of life and death is a journey that we should take with the Lord forever because he is everything there is,was, and will be.
Paul put into perspective of how to talk to someone who is not a believer and provided
A person can become open to the call of God in their life in many ways. Jennifer Fulfiller in “Something Other Than God” realized God’s call through multiple interactions with society and gifts God laid out for her. God’s call may not always be noticeable at first; but with a keen eye; it can be seen without doubt. God can show his call through houses, people, and other objects. God shows his plan to us through all kinds of signs laid out in our daily lives; this is most noticeably seen in “Something Other Than God”.
This was an act of faith to see how strong Job truly was. Job succeeded in the aspect that he trusted God and was not easily tempted by Satan or his friends who were telling Job that he needed to repent for his sins. God was glorified through this situation through many ways. Job choosing not to give into the lies that Satan was telling him nor the lies from his friends are prime examples. This is such a unique biblical story in which God was bragging on Job.
Job has been a profound book of the Hebrew Bible to interpret the meaning of the book as one of the Wisdom literatures. Katharine J. Dell argues, “As part of the Wisdom literature of the Old Testament, the book of Job might be expected to discuss ethical issues in similar fashion to Proverbs.” In this view, we may expect that Job typically show to reward virtue and to punish vice by God. According to Dell, “We find an airing of the doctrine of retribution according to which the good are rewarded and the wicked are punished, a basic presupposition of the proverbial worldview.” This is the one of the traditional and main view point of the Hebrew Bible.
In the Prophets section of the Old Testament, God revealed Himself through historical events as well as through the oracles of individual prophets. The book of Joshua, like all other books of the Bible, is primarily a book of theology. Through it God has revealed himself and continues to do so. The book of Joshua evidently came into being several years after the events recorded in the book took place.
Even the falling of a sparrow requires His attention. Furthermore, Jesus taught that if Heavenly Father is intimately involved in the falling of one sparrow, how much more is He involved in our everyday lives. Be not afraid, for our Father in Heaven is watching over us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hence, His love for every person is real, God cares about even the most infinitesimal details of our lives. There may be days of great sorrow, trials, or great loneliness, remember this scripture passage.
