Leadership:
Leader: A leader is a person who inspires and motivates people to work or to achieve certain goal or target. A leader is the one who not only finds a new and unique idea, but also has the ability to successfully execute that idea. Following are some quality that a leader possess that make their leadership very effective: honesty, confidence, creativity, confidence, inspiring etc.
Leadership:
Leadership is the ability of an individual to guide or lead other people, team or an organization. Trait leadership developed from leadership research which focused primarily on finding a group of heritable attributes that differentiated leaders from nonleaders. leader viability refers to the measure of impact a leader has on individual or gathering execution, followers fulfillment, and general effectiveness. Numerous researchers have contended that initiative is one of a kind to just a select number of people and that these people have certain unchanging attributes that can 't be produced.
But the limitation of the trait theory is that is can not be used in all the situations. Leadership does not reside in the person, and it usually requires examining the whole situation, thus a person who is good leader in one situation can be a bad leader in some other situation. Also trait leadership focuses on a small set of personality traits and not on other traits such as social skills and problem solving skills. The example of activity utilized by various people decides authority potential and style. In this way behavioral hypothesis concentrate on distinguishing basic behavioral determinant of leadership that can inturn be utilized to prepare individuals to end up great leaders.
The behavioral leadership is mostly divided into two types;
- Task oriented leadership: in this type of leadership a leader decides the goal and assigns task to the team members in order to achieve the specific goals. This results in high level of productivity and performance.
- Relationship oriented leadership: in this type of leadership a leader takes input from all of his team member and then works accordingly with them. This type of leaders aims specifically to build a strong relation with their employs or team members. This results in high level of productivity and job satisfaction.
Contingency theories: though trait and behavior theories help us in understanding leadership they miss an important part that is the environment in which leader exist. Contingency theory help us understand this aspect of leadership.
