Diehard Followers

Leadership is the process by which a person exerts influence over his followers and inspires, motivates, and directs their activities to help achieve group or organizational goals. Bernard Montgomery, British Field Marshal also defined leadership as “the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence”. The follower is someone who agrees with the beliefs of others, or listens to the leader or commands another. The success or failure of organizations can be attributed partly to how well a leader leads, and/or how well a follower follows the leader.
Some followers do not necessarily buy into the vision of the leader. They are not motivated or involved in pushing the goal or vision of the leader. They are interested in rewards such as salary, titles, and other benefits. Other followers engaged in themselves in achieving the vision of the leader. They are hardworking, committed and involved in the work. They are willing to sacrifice, so that the goals of the leader may be achieved. Another group of followers called activist are outspoken. Followers who engaged themselves and are hardworking, the leader does not serious monitor their activities. They can be delegated to some activities and the leader just needs to supervise them. These followers help the leader who has a bad trait (anger out bust) to be avoided. Their commitment, hard work and sacrifices serve as a motivation to the leader to continue to work on his vision to achieve his goals.
