Differences Between Andragogy and Pedagogy Pedagogy and Andragogy differ in many ways, just as children and adults do. It is important to know the meaning and the differences in these two terms. Pedagogy refers to the methods of teaching used particularly with children. It always involves an adult aiding a child to ultimately become an adult (Yonge, 1985). Andragogy refers to the methods used in teaching adults. Structurally speaking, however, the methods by which children and adults learn are architecturally the same (Yonge, 1985). In child learning or Pedagogy, the learner (child) is dependent upon the direction of the instructor/teacher. The adult (teacher/instructor) is responsible for what information and skill the child is taught as well as how this information is conveyed (Holmes & Abington-Cooper, 2000). In any professional position I obtain, including a teacher leadership role, it is important to me to give and gain respect from my colleagues. I demonstrate honesty, integrity and trust while maintaining authority. Communication is important to me as well and I always try and keep lines of communication open. I make an effort and explain the reasoning for my decisions so that others can understand why I made them. Staying positive is important in most aspects of life, especially professionally. I notice that positivity is contagious. When I stay positive others will too. While I feel that I have many strengths, I know I have just as many weaknesses. When transitioning into a leadership role I know that need to be more assertive and authoritative. I have a tendency to lack confidence which can sometimes cause me to become timid and overpowered. This is a massive area of growth for me. I am taking steps to rectify these weaknesses and allowing myself to grow into the leadership

Anne Frank is a person who remained positive even while their family was in hiding, especially at times where being scared and sad was fine. Liberal arts education, or academic courses that are intended to gain wide variety of knowledge including humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, is in the difficult times. Some criticize it due to its expensive tuition and contents of education. These critics have often referred to liberal arts as “luxury for the rich” or “impractical academic disciplines” (Pascarella et al. 6). Nevertheless, liberal arts education seems to be better when compared to professional education in terms of allowing students to learn broadly, to acquire critical thinking skills, and to establish verbal skills. First of all, in the liberal arts education, students are capable of acquiring comprehensive knowledge.
A leader guides activities as a role model, consider personal and professional values, as well as demonstrate a personal and professional code of ethics. They treat people fairly with dignity and respect. Legal and contractual obligations must be filled and laws and procedures should be applied fairly, wisely, and considerately. A key role in educational leadership is to create an atmosphere that everyone wants to be a part of.
I also think it is important to communicate to children and young people efficiently so that they understand what you are saying to them. Also you should be available to a child or young person when they want to talk to you and should take interest. Asking questions in the classroom is a good way in which to get all the pupils involved and this way when pupils are involved and no one is left out then this will get everyone together and will start to form stronger relationships with one another. Also when you praise a student for their good work then this will make them feel good and will make them want achieve more. Furthermore it is important not to make comparisons between each student because then this will make the child feel like they are less and this will start to cause problems.
Some of my greatest attributes include searching or imagine the best solution and making it happen, staying focused at the topic at hand, following through with projects or something I have committed to, and giving as much as I possibly can to be the best person I can be for myself and the group. However, one of my greatest weaknesses as a leader is my lack of ability to implement my thoughts into action. The purpose of this essay is to acknowledge the conditions that impact upon Indigenous students’ education. This will be reached through analysis of the concepts of race, racism and whiteness in Australia. These key understandings of Indigenous students’ will be incorporated into my own critical pedagogy in order to demonstrate how I would teach for reconciliation in my classroom. The concepts of race, racism and whiteness have produced unequal outcomes for Indigenous students to a vast degree in Australian society. The term ‘race’ has a historical context in Australia that is not acknowledged highly enough.
Educational philosophy and teaching styles are two aspects of adult learning that influence the teaching-learning transaction in colleges and universities. The educational philosophy can inform the educator with strategies and methods for implementing adult learning principles. Floyd (2010) described the importance of educators knowing their educational philosophy because self-examination and critical inspection of practices will create a consciousness of some unconscious beliefs that affect teaching practice.(1,2) The literature on educational philosophy explains, “When an adult educator engages in the practice of education, certain beliefs about life in general are applied to the practice” . Therefore, educators hold beliefs about how adults learn, how they should be taught, and what instructional practice should look like.
The unique aspects which are most salient for me are, first, the Andragogy theory (model); the idea of adult learners learning through enriched opportunities to collaborate in what they are learning and why they are learning it. The authors note, if the adult learner understands the value of what they are learning and it can be relatable to prior life experiences, they tend to be more motivated and retain the information. With that in mind, the importance of “climate setting” to provide mutual respect by actively collaboration with the adult learner in planning and the direction of lessons(Merriam, & Bierena, 2014).
