TDA 3.1 – Outcomes 1,2 and 3 Outcome 1) Understand the principles of developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults 1.1 Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults Effective communication is very important when developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults as it plays a large part in helping to create positive relationships and by communicating effectively it means we can pass on information in a clear concise way. There are many ways we communicate with each other, speech is not the only way. There are many ways which help build a positive relationship across the ages such as, facial expressions, gestures, …show more content…
If we are unable to communicate with the parents then this could have an impact on the child’s development and lead to the child’s issues progressing and getting worse. Strong positive relationships within the school environment and with parents is very beneficial to children. It helps to model effective communication and set a good example of appropriate behaviour towards others which in turn helps the children to recognise boundaries and what is acceptable when communicating with their peers and adults. Plus building a strong, trusting relationship with the children and young people makes them feel valued and helps provide a more effective learning environment and helps build their confidence with communicating as they progress through their lives. If there is a communication breakdown between any relationship and we do not treat each other with mutual respect then this can lead to situations becoming out of control and misunderstandings that can lead to bad feelings within the workplace as well as the children witnessing incorrect behaviour and then imitating
Encourage developing relationships with other children and young people parents/carers. This will lead to:
It is good to have effective communication within the adult social care setting as communication is used every day. It is used to encourage our services users to perform tasks, either verbally or physically. It is used to document what has been done ready for the next worker to take over. It allows us to work as a team. It allows us to provide a good service to the best of our ability.
Everyone needs a support system that they can trust, especially students. If a student does not feel comfortable in their own home, how can we expect them to feel comfortable at school? Some teachers assume that the parents of a child are someone that the child can trust and talk to, but that is not always true. It is important for teachers to realize the role they play, as a support system for many students.
It is very important to engage and have a good relationship with the parents and primary carers of the children in my setting. I should consider the possible cultural differences between me and the parents and also other parents. For instance, some cultures may have certain dietary restrictions or habits and beliefs. A discussion needs to take place about every aspect of this relationship before caring for the child. This is called information exchange and is very crucial in order for the childminder and the parent/career to have a healthy partnership this is because it can be possible that some aspects of the service I offer may not be suitable for some parents.
Explain the importance to children’s holistic development of Speech, language and communication This development is important for children’s holistic development as this will help the children to socialise and help them express what they like and need, this will get them to have more sense about the world. If the child can communicate this will help them with their confident and self-esteem levels as they can talk about how they feel.it is important for children to use their own language skills and not to listen to other all the time and this could put their development back. Adults should praise children a lot so they have the encouragement try new things but it is important you adults to give them feedback so that they can learn from right and wrong.
We have a responsibility to these children to be committed to them, to help them achieve to their highest potential and to respect and to support any disabilities or special needs that a child may have. It is very important that we create a safe and healthy environment so that children can grow socially, cognitively and can physically develop. It is also very important that we respect their self-worth and what they can contribute when they are in class every day. It is also vital that we as educators acknowledge and value a child’s culture, language, ethnicity and family structure and that we are able to provide the help they will need to learn English and help them to keep and honor their home language. The Ethical Responsibilities to Family section (2005), family is very important in the development of children and I have to agree that developing a good relationship with
According to Graham-Clay (2005), “establishing partnerships…[that] support student learning” is key to creating “strong communication” (p. 117). I always strived to create a safe environment that encourages the growth of their children by allowing open communication between myself and their parents. I have proven my sense of trust and concern for their children over the years. Through this, I implemented the ideal presented in the Code of Ethics from the NAEYC (2005) to listen and acknowledge their strengths and competencies, and learn from families which supporting them in their task of nurturing
A1. Communication basically means transferring information clearly from one person to another. It is the starting point of any relationship. To have a positive relationship with any person whether it is a child, a young person or an adult it is very important to have good effective communication skills.
Most relationships begin with some form of communication, whether it is verbal or non-verbal, so being able to communicate effectively is important for developing positive relationships whether with children of differing age groups or adults. The way we come across i.e. the tone and volume of our voice, our body language, whether we keep eye contact etc. and the messages this sends out is important because if we relate to others in a positive way then it will be easier to develop a more positive relationship. Another important factor of effective communication is being able to listen fully to what is being said and to respond in an appropriate way whether it is to another adult, a teenager or a child. To make sure you both fully understand
Majority of parents just want the best outcome for their child and for them to develop to the best of their ability. Even though this is the case, some parents are not always exactly sure how to encourage this and for this reason might seek advice from practitioners within the setting. The better the partnership between a staff member and a parent the more comfortable they will feel in confiding in the practitioner. Parents know their own child best and sometimes what they need in order to keep them happy, Children know what they want, whilst practitioners have knowledge of general child develop. For this reason, if the relationship between parents, children and practitioners is positive and consistent the child should receive the best outcome and develop well.
In the words of Putnam, “beating kids is bad, but entirely ignoring them can be worse” (111). If a young child were to come home from school and be confronted by her parents screaming at each other, she would feel confused and hopeless. While parents not asking their daughter how her day was does not seem like a big deal, it is a necessary part of a child’s development because “cognitive stimulation by parents is essential for optimal learning” (110). Children who have parents that “talk with them frequently develop more language skills than kids whose parents rarely engage with them in conversation” (110). For this reason, if a child’s parents were severely not getting along, then they definitely would not be putting all of their energy into talking with their child and, therefore the child would have a harder time developing language skills.
QP engaged Maunica into participating in a CBT activity geared towards communication skills. QP explained to Maunica that the activity will increase her communication skills. QP explained to Maunica what communication is and provided an example of the different form or communication person can have. QP discussed with Maunica there ways to enhance communication. QP asked Maunica to, list some things people do that effect communication.
ASSESMENT 4 YOUTH PRACTISE Information must be distributed internally and externally so it can increase co-workers and relevant personnel effectiveness and knowledge, its vital to keep everybody well informed to all current and new information and all changes. Gathering accurate reliable, relevant information is the goal of your organisation to ensure quality care for clients and co-workers. Sending information goes two ways when you send information you need to make sure it’s received and understood the way intended, making sure you also receive the message that’s also sent out to you as communication goes both ways. Being aware of different cultures and expectations is very important as culture is a sensitive topic, researching all cultures
Three months ago I sat across from my current director, Ryan, as he and another unit leader interviewed me. At that time he was the unit’s current manager; acting as the temporary director as they had some recent role changes. My first impression of Ryan was a good one; I got the sense that he is a calm but motivating leader. In the past three months since starting on the unit and Ryan taking over the director’s position -- I have come to know him a little better, and my first impression of him could not have been truer. When preparing for this analysis only one of The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) competencies stood out to me and that is communication and relationship building.
Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships because it is how we, as individuals express our needs, desires and understanding between us. How effectively we communicate will determine our relationships with each other ongoing. Communicating effectively will make children and young people feel secure around you therefore enabling trust to speak up and participate in a class and confirm understanding of what is being taught or the confidence to ask for help. Achieving effective communication will have benefits in a classroom by setting boundaries for behaviour and expectations of learning. When done effectively the children will learn to respect you as a role model whilst you are on the child 's agenda.
