“My Son the Marine” by Frank Schaeffer and John Schaeffer gives us a look into the life of a mother and father; and their feelings toward their son enlisting into the Marine corp. John had aspirations of joining the military to serve his country. He had spoken to recruiters from the Army, Air force, and the Navy but had yet spoken to the Marine Corp. After he spoke with the Marines he decided that if he was going to join the military he would definitely join the Marine Corps.
There is a lot to consider when a service member is deciding to end their military career. They need to have their finances in order, have their mental health evaluated if necessary, transition classes completed, and have a plan for after their transition to civilian. The way the military works is very different than the civilian side so people leave the military with a completely different mindset than when they joined. If a civilian has not served, nor been around those who have, they are unaware of the differences and the dramatic lifestyle changes the veteran will experience. A smooth transition from military to civilian lifestyle can require financial preparation assistance, career planning, and even mental health evaluations.
The United States military I consider one of the best in the world which is one reason I love learning about it. The U.S. military is well funded and generally has some of the newest and most advanced technology out there such as a railgun that fires ferrous projectiles using magnets to 3 times the speed of sound. For reasons like this I also want to join the marines to get to use technology like that. My family has joined the military often and it’s usually the navy. One of my cozens is in the navy and so was my uncle who operated the sonar on a Cleveland class cruiser which was apparently hit by a torpedo.
Federal employee benefits are based on federal guidelines, while state officers are paid based on state government pay schedules. For example, officer benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, pensions and health, dental and life insurance coverage, according to the California Employment Development Department. Overall the reason why I chose this path is because of how it inspires me to help other who need it the most. As a kid I watched countless movies of superheroes trying to help the world or their communities and that what I want to do is help people with their second chance so the will not go back into
I want to be a Warrant Officer because this is how I can best serve my country. Society expects me to fulfill an enormous amount of responsibilities. I will do so with the most humble head all while fulfilling my responsibilities. I am ready, willing and highly motivated to enter what is perhaps the most challenging chapter in my
I don’t really enjoy picking fights, or committing any acts of violence. Truthfully, if I got into any type of conflict, my lanky body would probably give up on me halfway. That’s what my wife told me after I said I was going to be joining the US armed forces. “Mark, are you an idiot? You can’t even walk without limping, how will you serve our country?!”
The forgotten are not truly forgotten they have only departed the mind and the lack of recollection has created an illusion of no prior existence. Thus, important events in history are made subjective and trivial through the perception of their lack of significance in the eyes of others as they refuse to recall past events. “They wanted nothing more than to forget what had happened to them (Chapter 10 page 192).” Therefore, personal advancement and the progression of a society is hindered as the truth is veiled as non-existent. In the book Ghosts in the Fog Samantha Seiple portrays a correspondent environment to such a degree that she stresses the importance of recollection and truth.
What I have learned from experience and how it impacted me First and foremost, being in the United States Marine Corps for over 22 years I have learned a lot from experience. I learned just like in the military, in my civilian job now I am always on duty.
Now also for accountability in the Marine Corps is one of the highest things that are always being hit on. So in other words, being accountable may mean for you to be at a certain place at whatever time was given for you to be there. Next, another reason why accountability is important is because if you don’t keep track of your gear and you’re missing something when the time comes and you need that piece of gear that you were missing then you would be in a lot of trouble. All together being accountable is; well to the Marine Corps being called mission ready. That is why accountability in the Marine Corps is very or in greater words beyond important.
While the military maybe a riskier job there are great benefits for it.
