What I have learned from experience and how it impacted me First and foremost, being in the United States Marine Corps for over 22 years I have learned a lot from experience. I learned just like in the military, in my civilian job now I am always on duty. Importantly there are set hours of work, the work can still venture into your personal life. My time in the Marine Corps I made sure my uniform was squared away at all times, now in the civilian profession I got to work in business casual. I make sure that my shirt and trouser are creased in a military manner along with my tie. I am in the understanding that in order to be very effective, civilians and Marine know one thing “they are always on the job”. During my tenure in the Marine Corps, the motto was always mission accomplishment. Now, hearing suggestions such as “Not my task” or “I did not …show more content…
Seasoned employees and managers bring a lot to table such as guidance and wisdom. Just like in the Marine Corps, the senior Marines and Officers brought a lot to the table such as leadership, guidance and wisdom. This is something that will be instilled in me for a long time. With that said, having a productive crew will assist and achieving positive objectives. Another thing that I learned from experience in the military and my civilian job is always hold people to increased standards. High standards I learned in both profession is important because you are a role model to someone at all times. Just like in the Marine Corps, I act as a professional in my profession at all times from the time I come in until I leave each day. According to Pelled (2007), “The thought of a missing goodness is a relatively comforting one that can give rise to mental development by learning from experience” (p. 1510). To be honest, I would not have made any different decisions with the knowledge I now
An environment where military members account for themselves as well as others will have a powerful positive impact. Accountability is a must have for all effective
Everyday, I had to set up the target range for marksmanship, and make sure the other cadets where ready to shoot and knew the safety procedures, all while making sure other cadets where able to
In the Marine Corps, Marines are always receiving praise for all the hard work, dedication, and efforts they put forth in their careers and it never goes unnoticed. Junior Marines today believe that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges, in other words, have a sense of entitlement; which is an issue Marine Non-Commissioned Officers face. They want everything handed to them, and not putting in the required work and earning it themselves and know what self-gratification feels like when accomplishing a task. Due to their lack of maturity, their quick rise in rank, and imitation of poor leadership all play a part of junior Marines being entitled. When you think of a United States Marine, you see someone who is professional,
The U.S. Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication titled Warfighting is one of the most important written documents the Corps has produced. It is the lifeblood to the organization’s overall bodily function of winning battles. The text is basic in methodology and sound in composition. It was not designed as a “warfighting for dummies” procedural approach to fighting in war, although the how part is broadly answered. It was, however, intended to answer the philosophical bigger question, why we fight (Warfighting, 1997).
ASSESMENT TO SGT. WILSON COUNSELING ON OCTOBER 20151015 SGT. Wilson, When you first arrived here to Bravo Company on February 2015 I was the Operation Sergeant, I was the one that in processed you in to the company. When I took over as the platoon Sergeant in late April we were getting ready to leave to the National Training Center. So that statement that you wrote doesn 't go with the time frame that you are describing.
More than 2.3 million of people are saved by the U.S Marines, more than 1.3 millions marines are active on duty around the world. BORN ONTO NIGHT Government had already used army before my birthday. Guerilla warfare was haunting the sleeps of people. Citizen had to fear both revolutionary and military. National Strike were like the Saturdays, regular holidays. I have seen the killing by government at the same night I started my schools .With
In this role, I have gained many social skills and a lot of patience. I first joined guard in the middle of my 6th grade year at Largo Middle school. Coming into this I had no idea what I was getting myself into. My very first memory of guard was at tryouts. It was held in the lunch room with all the tables pushed to the sides and we were broken up into groups.
U.S. Marines vs. U.S. Army There are a number of things that separates the Marines from the Army. The benefits are basically the same the only difference is the pay and the reasons why a person would get paid. During active duty with the Marines you get something the Marines call “competitive pay,” which basically means someone gets payed more than the Army’s basic pay. Along with competitive pay new recruits with the Marine Corp get special enlistment bonuses, as well as a small flow of pay for housing. The Marines is a better profession for me because Marine corps troops get free healthcare for life, a few months of paid vacation and much more.
I think that my restorative strength and problem solving skills play a big role in military service. The job I chose applies a lot to my career choice as a regional sales manager because it incorporates a lot of the same skills. The restorative strength explains in my strengths insight print out “It’s very likely that you traditionally consider better ways to make strangers or newcomers feel welcome. You are likely to help them fit in and realize they are no longer outsiders.” Which I feel speaks to me a lot cause in my military and business career being able to help people fit in and feel welcome is key to success
The Marine Corps can take me places and give me experiences that I would never have the chance to do. I want to embrace foreign disputes, but I’ve learned that you are most sucessful when provided time to observe the most efficient way of handling
Now, I know better; I show them respect and do whatever they ask of me. My family took care of me which made it easy to take it for granted. In the Army, the Drill Sargent’s made me do work their way. They did not show me

Without our intense training, we would have never made it this far. I remember marching through the ice cold rain and wanting to quit. But I remembered why I was fighting and how I wanted to make my country proud. Our uniforms are often varied due to the limitations of supplies. On the last day of battle I was shot.
My Military Journey As I finished packing my bags, I hear the doorbell ring. I stumble over my bag trying got out of my bedroom to the door. I looked though the peephole and there stood my recruiter SFC Jackson come to pick me up. My parents were still asleep so I awake them and told them I was leaving and they hugged me and said, “We love you”.
