After the attending the LBGTQI: Creating a safe and inclusive environment seminar I have a better grasp of how to accommodate members of the community so that they feel comfortable and accepted. The skills I learned in this seminar correspond greatly with my career path as a business major. As a regional sales manager coordinating and communicating with people over state lines is very important and I think fits into restorative strength highlighted in my strength quest test. A restorative person is someone who is adept at dealing with problems and are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. This skill can help me deal with the task of managing multiple sales teams. Similar to in the military being able understand where people are coming from along with their back ground is very important. There are members of the LBGTQI community in the armed forces, respecting and accepting their life style is pivotal to completing the tasks at hand as a unit. I think that my restorative strength and problem solving skills play a big role in military service. The job I chose applies a lot to my career choice as a regional sales manager because it incorporates a lot of the same skills. The restorative strength explains in my strengths insight print out “It’s very likely that you traditionally consider better ways to make strangers or newcomers feel welcome. You are likely to help them fit in and realize they are no longer outsiders.” Which I feel speaks to me a lot cause in my military and business career being able to help people fit in and feel welcome is key to success my …show more content…

I attended LGBT Lobby Day, sponsored by One Colorado, on March 26th at Central Presbyterian Church in Denver. This event focused on four significant bills/actions in the current session that can significantly impact the LGBTQ community both in a positive or negative way. The event was well organized and had a clear outline of its intended goals for the day. I enjoyed learning about the bills and how to appropriate address counterarguments with congress people that have opposing viewpoints. There was a thorough training about the bills and how to effectively lobby.
America's service personnel found our strengths in the unfailing support of family, friends and the nation we serve. Even though we see some similarities, there are a few differences
One of the most appealing things about University of Oregon is the active inclusion and constant work towards creating a more expansive community. I hope to study Philosophy with a minor in ethnic studies or women and gender studies. These majors I feel will help me pursue my personal goal of a diverse education. As a woman from a conservative part of the east bay with a unique connection to the LGBTQ+ community, I feel that I have a lot to offer to the diverse discourse that The University of Oregon offers. Additionally being a person of privilege I see that I have a responsibility to take a set back and listen to those who have less fortunate geopolitical locations.
My enthusiasm and disposal to learn will help me make my contribution to the team worth it. From the experience I hope to gain more knowledge, memories, good experience and why not... friends. My goal in order to contribute to the Conference outreach and growth of the Líderes Network is to introduce the program in my community and campus. This way more people will know the program and young people can benefit from it. I recognize the importance of a range to more Latino communities.
What would you describe as your areas of strength and weakness? * My variety of work in social services, with both non-profit and government organizations, has allowed me
Nevertheless, it is the way that friction is approached that makes a difference. By applying my positive attitude and sense of finding a common ground among coworkers, it will enable me to apply this strength to my daily life. Lastly, the strength of achiever was a lesser theme for me compared to my other top strengths. I sometimes take on too many tasks and want to accomplish many things in order to make me feel good about myself. I am extremely committed to everything I do and influence others to succeed in what they do.
This pairs perfectly with my goal to work as an international communicator specializing in developmental issues. What solidified my interest in the university was the atmosphere of the campus. When visiting, I felt warmly welcomed by everyone I met, from students to faculty. The interactions I had helped me to feel welcome and to understand the close-knit community of the university. When I graduate with my master’s degree, I want to be able to carry my strong relationships with faculty members and fellow students into the real
Since being a freshman year here at JMU, I wanted to become a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated for both professional and personal growth reasons. I have always shied away from Greek life because of the stigmas associated with it, however, Zeta has debunked those many of those stigmas by not conforming to the majority. I appreciate that this organization embodies virtues, genuine sisterly love and self-confidence. There is beauty in a group of women using their knowledge to uplift each other, rather than tearing each other down.
I consider one of my strengths linking business objectives into prioritized actions and leading and managing them in an efficient way. My international projects have proven that I can manage complex entities and can
Along with being deployed some of my learned skills were acquired when I was assigned as a Fury FSC retention NCO two years ago, and my job was to educate soldiers about what they qualified for and other entitlements. Even though the soldier already knew the skills needed in the Army and had knowledge of the Army, I still had to persuade individuals to why they should reenlist. This required some craftiness on my part as some of these soldiers needed to hear something that they haven't heard

The strength activator will help me in program planning, coordinating different departments, and developing monthly and quarterly reports.
While it required time management skills to balance all these things, the lessons I learned were invaluable. I found that the key to success was to connect to the people I was serving and to learn from those who had come before me. By focusing on these things I have been fortunate enough to win recognition in these areas and feel the satisfaction of mastering a skill. In fact, this is my mindset towards
When I started here at the Non Commissioned Officer Academy I was aware that I had weaknesses like not being personable or picking the wrong times to try and work something out, but thru the Course 15 material and research I found five concepts that were important to me and how I could improve on them. I started with interpersonal communication and how I need to be more personable with everyone in my work center and really listen to what they have to say, so I can get to know them better as a person. To build further, I looked at the three elements of adaptability and how the fact that I have a strong dispositional flexibility which in turn will help me strengthen the other two by keeping that positive attitude. I then looked into cultural
