The Necessity of Gun Control Guns hurt about nineteen children every day, where twelve children are injured and seven children are killed. These are only just children. Imagine how many more people become victims of gun violence every day. There is a lot of debate between whether or not more laws should be passed to control the ownership and manufacturing of guns in the United States. Can gun control laws reduce the amount of gun violence? The clear answer is yes. First, the suicide rate will lower if we pass more gun control laws. Next, making people undergo background checks before owning a gun will help lessen the risk of a firearm ending up in the hands of a criminal or a person with mental illness. Third, there will be more gun deaths …show more content…
According to an article by the name of “The research is clear: gun control saves lives” by German Lopez, it says, “A more recent study from 2013, led by a Boston University School of Public Health researcher, reached multiple conclusions: After controlling for multiple variables, the study found that a 1 percent increase in gun ownership correlated with a roughly 0.9 percent rise in the firearm homicide rate at the state level.” If more gun control laws were passed, it would be more difficult to get a gun. As a result, there would be fewer deaths by guns. The homicide rate would be positively impacted since people wouldn’t have guns to commit any shootings or crimes. Conversely, others may say that even though passing gun control laws will lower gun deaths, the general homicide rate will still continue to rise. It is understood that the homicide rate will still continue to increase even with gun control laws. However, it will still make a notable effect on the homicide rate. This is because guns are used very often in homicides. It is nearly impossible to successfully ban every single method of killing. There will be more gun deaths if it is easier to get guns, and this is a third reason why more gun control laws should be
I don’t want more crime just because people have stricter gun laws. Taking away guns may cause people to go to other ways of committing violent crimes. I also think if we have don’t have more gun control laws, then gun deaths would reduce dramatically. American children under age 15 were nine times more likely to die of a gun accident than children in other advanced wealthy countries. About 200 Americans go to emergency rooms every day with gunshot wounds (Frum).
It’s been said by many people that guns need controlled restricted and even banned. Restricting who gets their hands on guns is a good thing, but it has shown that countries with more restrictive gun licensing laws show fewer deaths by firearms and a lower gun ownership rate. A lab was done and showed that for every 100 people there is about 88 guns. Stated in the same article on the Huffington post it was said that “similar results have been found by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, which states that countries with higher levels of firearm ownership also have higher firearm homicide rates.” (Huffington post 2015).
If you recollect about it, this really should be an anticipated effect of gun control, though most people don 't remember far enough past the words "gun" and "control" to see it. When you do give up and recollect about it though, the criminals who are committing crimes at present are the ones still making this a relevant issue of discussion in the foremost position. They are the aces who are either getting access to certain weapons that are already illegal and/or the ones who are using legal weapons illegally. If it weren 't for them disregarding laws and causing these crime rates to fail up, gun control would not still be in
Gun Control in the United States Does Gun Control work? ,and if it does work,Does gun control have to be necessary? For those who are unaware gun control refers to laws or policies that regulate manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, and/or the use of firearms. According to CNN 67% of americans support gun control, when research has shown that states with stricter gun control laws have significantly higher homicide rates compared to those of states with lenient gun control laws. When talking about gun control and looking at the homicide rates of states with lenient and strict gun control laws one will realize that gun control does not work. However there are many solutions to lowering the homicide rates in states with high homicide
Two things that do not go hand in hand with one another is Crime and guns. Gun control issues have been a huge problem in the United states for forever and a day. No matter what happens when violence and guns get in contact the problem pays us all a visit. The big question is real, If having new laws for guns, will it decide/figure out the crime rate in the United States? My opinion is that the new gun laws will figure out the crime rate because so many issues/problems will be solved in the united states.
Gun control problems Nowadays, we can hear the crimes related to guns from time to time, and each of them is scarified and influential. For example, the accident happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School leads to 20 deaths for primacy school students and 6 deaths for staffs. It is hard to imagine what degree of sadness in their family may suffer. In this way, many people think the government should have stronger gun control regulations.

According to the CDC, “Guns are responsible for over thirty-three thousand deaths in the United States annually. Gun Control is a set of laws that controls the use of guns by civilians. The Gun Control Act was signed as October 22, 1968 but was updated in 1993. As of February 23, 2018 seventy percent of people favor stricter gun laws and twenty-seven oppose of them. I believe that the Gun Control Laws should be stricter here around the United States because almost everyday something bad is happening by the use of a gun.
In the past, the major gun control legislations that have been put into effect have not stopped people from obtaining firearms (Gun Control.) There have also been cases in the past where cities have attempted to ban handguns. After the ban was put into effect, murder rates tended to rise instead of drop, unlike what most people might assume. Crime rates and violence also skyrocketed after the bans were put into effect. Another problem with taking guns away, or banning them, is that the government cannot expect everyone to abide by the laws.
They can be used to defend and protect as well as to threaten and kill. Guns and crime go together. A study conducted by the American Journal of Public Health found that the legal purchase of a gun seems to be associated with an increased risk of violent death. Every year, Americans are shocked by numerous mass shootings and senseless acts of violence involving guns and weapons. And, every year around 100,000 people are shot among which 18,000 are children and teens (Lane, 131).
Moorhouse, John C, and Brent Wanner. “Does Gun Control Reduce Crime Or Does Crime Increase Gun Control?” Ebscohost, 1 Jan. 2006, web.a.ebscohost.com/ehost/pdfviewer/ pdfviewer?vid=1&sid=db378b8b-d9e7-4ee7-b26c-460bc1177bd4%40sessionmgr4008. Moorhouse and Wanner, in their article “Does Gun Control Reduce Crime Or Does Crime Increase Gun Control”, studied whether or not gun control reduced gun violence in individual states. The overarching theme throughout the individual states is that gun control doesn’t reduce gun violence and is very ineffective.
Gun Control Lately people have been using guns in a negative way and causing a bad effect on the world. People have been using guns inapropriatly and have been performing mass killings. If guns are being used by people then the people using them should know how to use them correctly, or not being a crazy lunatic. When I was 12 I was playing with a pistol and accidentally shot it, I wasn’t hurt and no one else was hurt but somebody could have been injured badly. Gun laws are the cause to a lot of the violent crimes in the united states and laws need to be changed so people can’t purchase guns as easily that way we aren’t in as much trouble.
For example, when perpetrators use high capacity magazines or assault weapons, it results in 47% more deaths (Everytown Research). Not allowing these high powering magazines to be sold or having higher regulations to who they are sold to, can decrease mass shootings. This would result in a safer environment. Similarly, bettering the control of who the guns are being sold to would prevent the guns from getting in the hands of the wrong people. For instance, requiring yearly background checks for anyone who purchases any type of gun would add more control to these weapons being in the proper hands.
The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths.
With tougher gun control laws, there will be a lesser chance of another shooting. Owning a weapon makes a person feel safer. Pew Foundation report found that “79% of male gun owners and 80% of female gun owners said owning a gun made them feel safer and 64% of people living in a home in which someone else owns a gun felt safer.” The truth is owning
