Everyone, at one point in their lives has wanted power more than anything. Those who do get it have to make the decision whether they want to use it for good or evil. Power can turn a person into something they never dreamed they would become because it starts to take over their lives and people do not know what to do with so much power. There are many examples of power in the play Macbeth and every person that got it used it in very different ways. This caused many changes in people from turning from good to evil or evil to good. Over the course of the play, power causes Macbeth to turn from honorable to cruel which leads to his downfall. Early on in the play, ¨Macbeth¨, Macbeth is seen as an honorable man toward everyone, especially toward king Duncan. When the witches tell Macbeth that he will be thane of Cawdor and soon king he says,¨I know I am thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The thane of Cawdor lives, a …show more content…

After the killers told mAcbeth that they had killed Banquo, he states,¨'Tis better thee without than he within. Is he dispatched?¨ (III.iv.15). This quote reveals that he was cruel because we see Banquo as an honorable man and even Macbeth's best friend. The fact that Macbeth had Banquo killed just because he was suspicious tells the reader that Macbeth Is cruel. Also, another example of Macbeth being cruel s when he snt the murders to kill macduff's family. The play says,¨(Stabbing him) what, you egg Young fry of treachery! He has killed me, mother. Run away, I pray you!¨ (IV.ii.77). This is showing that Macbeth had the murderers kill the little boy in front of his mother. This is significant because it shows the cruelty Macbeth has for killing an innocent boy and going after his mother just for vengeance towards his father.
