Going straight to college out of high school is very controversial, because of the benefits and the disadvantages.This has been a big debate among students who are getting out of high school and trying to make an important decision about what they want to do in life. Two high school graduates (Mike and Sue) are talking about what they are job going to do when they get out of high school. Mike says that he is going to college to get a good for himself after college. Sue disagrees and says that she is going straight into the workforce to make money right away. Mike: Going to College straight out of high school is the best way to go, because it gives your life a huge jumpstart to a future career. Workers with a Bachelor 's degree earned an average of $464 per week more than workers with only a high school diploma. (Brady) Just 2.7% of workers with a Bachelor’s degree are facing unemployment, compared to the 5.2% of workers with only a high school diploma. (Brady) Seventy-seven percent of workers with a postgraduate degree and 60% of workers with a Bachelor’s degree believe their job gives them a sense of identity, versus just 38% of those with a high school diploma.
