The colonization of the United States has been a period in the history of America in which many things occur, such things as the puritan’s immigration, which led to the establishment of their Protestant Ethic in America. Such Ethic impacted a lot that many things were created from it, like Manifest Destiny. Not only th e Protestant Ethic created the Manifest Destiny, also it impacted and changed the Literature. It all started when the first persecuted Puritans leave Europe in search of a new home to practice their religion. By 1620, the Puritans arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts. When Puritans arrived did not know the environment of the place, but the Native Americans helped them. These Native Americans were very different from the Puritans in many aspects, they believed that all things in the Universe depend on each other, recognized the work of the creator of the world, and ceremonies that honored a creator of nature. Thereon, these Puritans continued to live their way of life of hard work to reach their salvation. Unfortunately, not many of these Puritans survive, but by 1630 a great migration of Puritans arrived. This great migration was led by John Winthrop and was motivated to find a place where they can practice their religion. During the travel, Winthrop delivered the sermon “A Model of Christian Charity” in which he states that they had made a covenant with God, in which it would make them succeed if they keep his commitment with him by making a “City upon a Hill”. In other words, they have to make a colony where they would become a model to all the nations of Europe, to show them what a properly reformed Christian commonwealth should look like(2), “the eyes of all people are upon us”. link the Wikipedia y de
The Crucible Webquest The puritans were a group of people that wanted to separate from England. They wanted to separate because they believed that England was too catholic in belief. The king of England ruled over the church and state, so when they disagreed with the church, they were against the king. Their protestant belief caused them to not be welcome in their own country.
Liberty was the key issue for the Puritans. It was liberty, or the lack of, that pushed men to find safe haven, and it was freedom that enticed them to create a new society that never put state and the church hand in hand. By having a taste of liberty, they were introduced to ideas of equality and democracy which became an important part of the community they built and to the future nation that they will create. The foundation of Puritan principles such as piety, democracy and republican freedom, spread its influence over all the colonies, enlightening the “whole American world”.
The Puritans believed word from word what was written in the bible, they put their religious belief into their laws and believed that all sins should be punished by hanging or thrown in jail. Not only did they extremely focus on religion but there was already tension between Salem Village and Salem Town, where they were far wealthier. Manifest Destiny was a nineteenth century concept of American expansion. This concept gave Americans the belief that they were destined to move United States territory into the West, and that America should fulfill its duty of settling and civilizing all the land that was available to them. There were many different aspects of Manifest Destiny, such as its overlying racist ideology, as this concept gave citizens of the United States a mindset that it is America’s duty to civilize the “uncivilized” world to the West, inhabited by the Native Americans. American expansion West oppressed the cultures of the Natives, and replaced them with forced conversion and adaptation of American culture. The system of expansion Manifest Destiny brought about also had a positive influence on the economic culture of America, expanding its borders, allowing for railways to be built, trade to expand, and new goods to be discovered.
The Puritans were brave individuals who set out to alter the way their religion should be. Expanding to America was the way to escape the ills of the Catholic Church. Puritans felt that expanding was their right, and it was the only way to uphold God's word. The Roman Catholic Church was headed towards a path of destruction, and this was not what God wanted for his people. In Matthew 5:14, we find one of the major basis of the Puritan belief system.
The Puritans had a heavily important part in the formation of early America, as well as a religion that influenced our early American society. This society has been the target which many authors have picked to set their novels in. Two selections that go into detail about some of the different aspects of the Puritan people are The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, and The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. These two particular writers who wrote of Puritan times conveyed, in their text, the values of the Puritan community of 17th century.
The Puritan religion was comparable to the Pilgrim's religion. Both were English protestants who felt that England's reforms should have lasted longer. In contrast to the Pilgrims, the Puritans arrived in America in 1630 with the goal of reforming the Church of England. Many people believed that the Puritans were a religious government known as a theocracy. Although some other historians believed that it was a democracy.

On a normal day I wake up, get ready, put on clothes I want to wear, eat my breakfast and go to school. The weather doesn't matter; if it's raining or sunny. People are nice, people are mean; I am too. My worries are different, my thought consist of how my hair looks, if I have acne, am I'm going to stand out? (Hopefully not.)
Manifest Destiny is a unique, yet mysterious fundamental series of events in American history. No other country’s history contains such an eventful history as the United States. Amy Greenberg’s book, Manifest Destiny and American Territorial Expansion, provides documented evidence that settlers believed they were destined for expansion throughout the continent. In other words, many religious settlers believed that it was a call from God for the United States to expand west. On the other hand, people believed that Manifest Destiny vindicated the war against Mexico.
“ Freedom and prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged” (Ronald Reagan). The Puritans were people who left New England in search of religious freedom. They believed that the Church’s doctrine was incorrect and didn’t follow God’s intentions. This led John Winthrop ( a Puritan leader) to migrate a large quantity of Puritans to America during the 1600’s. Before they moved to America the Puritans were persecuted and weren't able to practice their beliefs in peace.
In the year 1630, seventeen ships which were funded by the Massachusetts Bay Company, set out from England to establish a new colony in America. The colony consisted of members who believed in Puritanism. Puritans were Protestants that originated within the Church of England who commanded simplification of the doctrine and greater strictness in religious discipline. “From its earliest beginnings, Puritans had exhibited a drive toward immediacy in religious experience. It was this which stood at the root of its utter rejection of all sarcerdotalism, whether Roman or Anglican.
As England's population continued to grow in the 17th century, immigrants traveled to the Americas, securing their ownership to several West Indies islands. After claiming land, the colonies continued to develop between 1607 and 1754. The English headed north and the New England colonies were developed in 1608 including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. While the settlers focused on recreating their society with their own religious beliefs, another goal was to seek economic opportunity, and sometimes the development varied with the of southern colonies. Looking for religious freedom, a group known as the Puritans left England.
The idea of Manifest Destiny changed the American Landscape. But, you may think, is it possible for a spiritual belief and religious to have the ability to dramatically influence the manner in which a country is built and the way its people think? I can give you three elements on how I think this new way of thinking came to be. First, the Louisiana Purchase.
Essentially, Puritans are expected to follow a strict set of religious and moral guidelines from which their actions and morality are derived. According to Hall’s A Reforming People, these moral expectations first introduced by the pilgrims were the driving force behind the power that the Puritan ministry had over society: “Ministers and laypeople looked first to congregations as the place where love, mutuality, and righteousness would flourish, and second to civil society. …Alongside love, mutuality, and righteousness they placed another set of values summed up in the word “equity.” Employed in a broad array of contexts, the concept of equity conveyed the colonists’ hopes for justice and fairness in their social world.”
