The Flint River was found to contain eight times more chloride than Detroit’s water which is highly corrosive to metals (Sanburn). This caused lead to leach into the water. The quote,”The entire nation consumes a bit more than 10 billion gallons of bottled water per year. I find it surprising that much of the population continues to purchase bottle water despite the cost and being aware of the harmfulness. My only argument for why people continue to buy bottled water is because of the convenience factor. When out in public sometimes it is easier to purchase a bottle of water. Simply carrying renewable water bottle and refilling it can be an easy fix to the problem. I am guilty of being out in public and not seeing a water fountain and buying a bottle of water.
