Fresh meat. Freshie. Child. Bottom of the chain. These words were engraved in my head during my first day of high school. However, I ignored them and pursued my own objectives. In my freshman year of high school, I was the founder of the lacrosse club at my school. Apart from having a rigorous school schedule filled with honors classes, and being involved in football and FBLA, it was my responsibility to bring the club to life. I discovered my math teacher used to play college lacrosse, and I had always been interested in lacrosse. I approached him with the idea and he encouraged it and told me if I got the players, he would help coach. As the founder, I was involved in recruiting prospective members, serving as a liaison between the players, coaches, and parents, and most …show more content…
Reminiscing on my lacrosse days, I would not be the person I am today without that experience. By being involved in such a pivotal role, I gained maturity, leadership, time management, communication skills, and most importantly, confidence and learned how to believe in myself. To be an RA, it is essential to have all these. My time management skills I have thoroughly developed will help me balance school, outside activities, and the demands of an RA. Additionally, the maturity, leadership, communication skills I developed serving as a liaison between coaches, parents, and players will transfer to the RA job benefitting the hall director, other resident assistants, and the students. Additionally, I gained self-confidence. An RA is one who has to be responsible, he can’t consistently ask others how to do something or what to do, instead, he has to rely on himself. By attaining confidence at a young age, I can simultaneously utilize my confidence and strong, successful work ethic to fulfill the RA
Previously, I traveled down to Delaware Technical Community College to attend a leadership conference involving The Special Olympics of Delaware. I have recently applied to attend this year's New Castle County Vo Tech's Unity Day with other high schools in the district, and another Fall Leadership Conference in Dover, Delaware. Currently, I am the Captain for St. George’s Junior Varsity Volleyball team. This leadership opportunity helps me take charge of my team and guide them to success in the sport. My knowledge from previously playing, and my responsibility on the court helped push me to this position.
January 1st 1998, eight organizations came together in a merger to form what is known today as USA Lacrosse, the national governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse in the US. The vision of USA lacrosse is to “envision a future that offers everyone a lifelong opportunity to enjoy the sport of lacrosse” (Cite). Often times you will hear coaches, fans, and members informally refer to the vision of this organization by simply saying it is to “grow the game”. The mission of USA Lacrosse, as laid out in their website, is to provide “national leadership, structure, and resources to fuel the sport’s growth and enrich the experience of participants” (Cite). CEO Mark Riccio expands on their VMOSA in a release with USA Lacrosse Magazine and outlines
Failure for Moorestown girls lacrosse is not an option. This powerhouse lacrosse program had a winning streak of eighty-eight consecutive games. My sophomore year the program experienced their first loss in what seemed like forever. Continuously, the timer on the scoreboard got closer to triple zeros, everyone’s hearts went into their throats anticipating the end. The opposing team was up by one and were stalling the ball.
Cole Freeling Changing rules in USA Lacrosse Association/NCAA Women's Lacrosse Introduction: If you have watched the sport of lacrosse, you will notice that women's lacrosse is a lot different than men's lacrosse. Men’s lacrosse is a full contact sport while the game of women's lacrosse is no contact and the rules are vastly different, and many women wish the sport was more like the men’s version of lacrosse. Campaign: Change the sport of lacrosse for woman I am proposing that women's lacrosse should involve more contact, and should alter the rules to do so.
Did you know professional lacrosse players only make about $10,000-$25,000 a year? I already knew that professional lacrosse players didn't make a lot of money and couldn't make a living off of playing, but I didn't know how they made a living off of that salary, and that's what I wanted to know. I thought about what topic I should research and finally came up with how professional lacrosse players make a living. Later on I realized I wasn't really researching the right topic so decided to change my research to more of the history of lacrosse. I learned a lot about professional lacrosse and just the sport in general.
I know exactly how to motivate my underclassmen when they tell me “I can’t do this anymore.” Over the last four years, I have succeeded in leading my group of 13 saxophone players to two State

It was the middle of January, dead of winter of my eighth grade year. Coach Brooklyn Howell, the Lady Cougars basketball coach came up to me and said “come tonight, 5:30 at Byrnes Freshman Academy to try out and see if you like lacrosse.” I did not really know if I wanted to play in the cold, because I was so used to playing in a warm gym during the cold winter months. Lacrosse really did not seem like a sport that I wanted to play. But I tried it out anyway.
As you run down the field cradling the lacrosse ball in your stick, it feels like every other girl is barreling toward you at full speed. There is no better feeling, though, than to shoot the ball and watch it sail past the goalie into the net. Growing up in Baltimore, lacrosse is practically a religion. However, I never really felt any interest in lacrosse. In the Spring of my junior year, one of my friends begged me to try out for my high school’s lacrosse team.

I was always on a sports team my whole life, whether it be basketball, softball, tennis or something else, but I've never known true team work until I joined the FFA. As chapter treasurer, I carry quite a bit of responsibility on my shoulders. I'm in charge of our finances, sure, but it's more about inspiring others to join the greatest youth organization in the world. It's about motivating teammates to keep studying. It's about seeing potential in others, and in yourself.
