Meriwether Lewis, also known from Lewis and Clark, was a great American.
He was an explorer, soldier, politician, and public administrator.
He was involved in the Louisiana purchase as well as the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Meriwether Lewis is influential because of his character, accomplishments, and legacy. Meriwether Lewis was born August 18, 1774 and died October 11, 1809.
While Lewis grew up he did not attend school until the age of 13. He went on to graduate from Lee University in Lexington, Virginia in 1793 at the age of 19. “(States, Softschools)”
After receiving his education, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were asked by Thomas Jefferson to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean but, instead that lead to the Louisiana Purchase. …show more content…

The United States first requested to pay 2 million dollars but, later got rejected. Then three years later the U.S came back with a better deal of 15 million dollars and France accepted the offer.
What was known as the Louisiana Territory stretched from the Mississippi river in the east of the rocky mountains in the west and from the gulf of Mexico in the south to the canadian border in the north. “(History.com)”

Meriwether Lewis is a true hero for his accomplishments he made for the United States of America.
Meriwether Lewis believed that going on this journey to see the Western territory/what they bought and what kind of resources were there.
