The Monroe Doctrine was a US. policy about the Western Hemisphere. It caused the United States to expand. It was proposed to by James Monroe in 1823 after the War of 1812. It was once a small threat to Europe. It still stands as a tenet of US foreign policies today. 2 3 Europe and Latin America did not take the Monroe Doctrine solemnly.
