Sandusky Rumble: June 29th 2013, a day I’ll always remember. It was a day quite like no other. 99 degrees, 80% humidity. Now you may think I’m describing Phoenix Arizona, think again. For Sandusky Ohio, it was the hottest day recorded in the past ten years. At the time I was ten years old and my lacrosse team, Black Swamp had been dispatched into the championship game. If we won, a trip to Florida for the World Lacrosse Championship games were evident (ironically Sandusky Ohio was hotter than Miami Florida on June 29th, ironic). At the time I was someone who came of the bench, it was my first year playing travel lacrosse and had only begun playing the sublime sport sixth months prior. Attack was my position the first year I played, my objective …show more content…
I’d consider a score of thirteen to one a butt-kicking, especially coming against one of the proudest travel teams in all of Ohio. With a record of three wins and no losses, our hopes were high. That night we went back to hotel we stayed at and had one of the most enjoyable nights of my life. To this day I still remember it fondly. Buffalo Wild Wings with friends then staying up until twelve-thirty running around the hotel playing tag probably wasn’t the right thing to do eight hours before our next game, but it was enjoyable and luckily for us it didn’t bite us in the butt. Waking up at seven-thirty isn’t normally considered second-rate, but when you’ve stayed up until past dawn the only thing you crave is more sleep. At first I could barely open my eyes, the moment I did, I immediately regretted my decision. The sun had already risen and just so happened to be right in my direction, how pleasant? Our first game that today (one of five) game against the second worst team in the U11 age division. The Redhawks were considered laughing stocks, until they played us. With four minutes, thirty three seconds to go, the score was tied at thirteen a piece. Now my coach, Von Sigler, was never one to put me in on what was considered “crunch-time”, however this
Lakota Hodges p.1 lacrosse game v.s mt si It was a beautiful morning the sun was shining bees a buzzing you can see clearly mt si as we stand on a terrible grass field filled with potholes and mole mounds i as i consider in my head why aren't we on their elevated grass field but that thought is quickly shooed away as john a fellow teammate hurdles a ball toward me as i catch it he trips on a pothole i say to him "today is going to be a good day" as that event comes to a close luckily the opposing team had just arrived and thankfully didn't see that as i suit up to play goalie in a muddy goal with moose poop nearby and goose poop
The Wolfpack had one hope remaining at the NCAA Tournament, this was to win the ACC Tournament that would allow them to proceed to the NCAA. With Whittenburg just getting back a couple games before the ACC Tournament, the team started to gain a little confidence back. The team started off against Wake Forest. Down in the final minute, Coach Jim Valvano decided to do something that was unthinkable at the time, he wanted to foul and send the other team to the free-throw line. This was very strange at the time because nobody did it, but it payed off in the end as the team won 71-70.
The NCAA takes away scholarships, as well as fines, suspends, and punishes programs for their wrongdoings. Though it was Jerry Sandusky who did the child molesting, Penn St had to pay a fine of $60 million (Layden). The Jerry Sandusky scandal happened from 1998-2011. Jerry Sandusky was an assistant coach at the university of Pennsylvania state. The scandal was about how Jerry Sandusky molested multiple children, and used the Second mile program to find the children.
What We Learned: Ohio State Buckeyes 72, Michigan State Spartans 67 On Sunday afternoon, the Michigan State Spartans and Ohio State Buckeyes collided in Columbus, Ohio for a Big Ten battle. While the Spartans entered the matchup sitting on top of conference play, the Buckeyes were still in pursuit of their first Big Ten win. Michigan State (12-6, Big Ten 4-1) came out scorching hot in the first, connecting on their first six shot attempts. However, the Spartan’s early success was short lived, as the Buckeyes began to form a sudden comeback.
The Contrasts Between “The Most Dangerous Game” and CSI Miami While CSI miami’s episode, “Hunting Grounds” is inspired by Richard Connell's famous short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” they are very unique because of how the storyline takes place differently. They both have many similarities such as having a murderer and a victim, but also many differences such as how they find the murderer and what happens to him later. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford knew that Zaroff was a murderer because of the way he described his head collection and how he would play the game with shipwrecked sailors. On the other hand in the CSI Miami episode, The investigators were solving a case to see who the murderer was. Both plots are very similar but
On a cold, frosty, snow cover night in November at Welcome Home Stadium, was when my life changed. That night, two teams played for the chance to call themselves champions of 6th-grade football. All game, my team and I battled against the mighty Wilmington Hurricanes. We fought all game to win and finally we got the ball back with less than under a minute left and down by 4 points. The crowd was quieter than a church mouse as my coaches huddled us up during a timeout, and in that timeout, my coaches looked to me for answers.
It was the middle of January, dead of winter of my eighth grade year. Coach Brooklyn Howell, the Lady Cougars basketball coach came up to me and said “come tonight, 5:30 at Byrnes Freshman Academy to try out and see if you like lacrosse.” I did not really know if I wanted to play in the cold, because I was so used to playing in a warm gym during the cold winter months. Lacrosse really did not seem like a sport that I wanted to play. But I tried it out anyway.
From that day on, I now give my absolute best effort in lacrosse. I’ve realized that the number of days I have playing this amazing sport are limited, so I better make the most of them while I still
In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” the main character Rainsford had gotten stranded on a dangerous island where Zaroff, a Russian Cossack General, hunted humans for sport. He feels that God put the weak on earth to give the strong pleasure, and up until it was his turn to be hunted, so did Rainsford. Earlier in the story Rainsford had stated, “The world is made up of two classes-- the hunters and the huntees.” And as harsh as it may sound, it is technically correct. The world is made of hunters and huntees, predator and prey.
In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, suspense is created through the use of foreshadowing, different points of view, and cliffhangers. Without suspense, the book would be boring and uninteresting to read. The author uses these three main techniques to keep the reader engaged. First off, Connell uses foreshadowing to create suspense by using appalling words to map out the near future, and by using dialogue. The author uses dreadful words like “dark” and “cannibal” to foreshadow the daunting future.

Andy: Imagine you are stranded on an island, starving and thirsty. You have managed to build a fire and have pushed through countless rainy nights. You are using the skills of a survivor. These skills have been used by other survivors such as Hyeonseo Lee, a North Korean who escaped her country. Aron Ralston uses survival traits to survive being trapped in between a boulder and a wall of rock.
By half-time we were up by two, but not for long. The other team seemed to have saved their strength for the end. We didn 't. Another battle raged. Another one of silent violence. This time though, we were on the defense end.
Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted. During the story, their positions change to the complete opposite.
