The three different research methods are naturalistic observations, surveys, and case studies. A naturalistic observation is when someone is observing people or animals in a natural environment or set. A naturalistic observation would be good to use when you observing people in a a cafeteria. For example under appropriate conditions, you can observe the amount of people who naturally order healthy food verses unhealthy food. Naturalistic observation are good only if you take the time to observe people in their natural environments. There are also downsides to this method of research. There can be an observer effect, when someone is staring at you do the research, observer bias, when someone has a background, and you could also have no control …show more content…
Because I chose to do my research on only one subject, I did a case study. Lisa is culturally different than I am because she is hispanic. When I preformed the case study, I went to my moms work, because Lisa works there, and I asked her 12 questions and follow up questions about her and her culture. Im not able to generalize the information about her culture as a whole, but I gathered information about her culture, that could possibly pertain to others in her culture as well. I collected a lot of data from my findings about Lisa. I asked lisa about indigenous foods she ate, and she said that fried food is big in hispanic culture, for example, Pastelillos, Pastelles, Pernil, and Spanish rice and beans. This is somewhat similar to my culture, we also eat a lot of fried foods. I also asked lisa about her holidays in hispanic culture. Lisa said that she celebrates Three Kings Day, celebrated on January 6th, to celebrate the birth of Jesus and remember the three kings who honored him with gifts. Also, she said she has family traditions. Lisa and her family and friends go to different homes for Parrandas, also know as caroling. My family celebrates christmas for the birth of Jesus and our tradition is to set up a christmas tree, and lots of decorations. When I asked Lisa about the language she speaks, she said she can speak fluent Spanish, because her grandparents did not speak
Each year my family celebrates Cinco de Mayo by having a party at my house our family comes over from around the United States. I think a special tradition my family has is just that because we don't really celebrate other things. But we also celebrate the birthdays that people from our family are going to have we get invited to a lot of birthday parties but we don't really go always. Especially if the party is far away then we just can't go because of the long distance. There are some things that people celebrate that we celebrate too.
The dishes I’ve tried are common everyday foods eaten by mostly the Hispanics. The two main dishes come with a portion of refried beans with cheese, tomatoes, and rice. These ingredients are served in most traditional plates on their menu as well. Many Mexican families have these standard ingredients in their household. The fresh corn tortillas were served on the side and it can be used to either scoop beans, rice and other ingredients or we can make our own burrito.
Hispanic people tend to be very traditional with their beliefs for Holidays like “Day of the Dead” and girls “quinceaneras”. They believe that while it is okay to embrace new traditions you have to keep the old. It is considered respectful and the right thing to do. Another thing about Hispanic culture is that they enjoy family time and take pride in their
“On Christmas Eve, families gather together for a large dinner and Santa Claus brings gifts to which are opened on Christmas Eve” (“Christmas in Spain”). Like many Hispanic holidays, Christmas is spent with family. “Families dress nicely, eat large amounts of food together and give gifts to their family members and children” (Valdivieso
Those who are Hispanic like me have traditions in common. We bring food
Here our traditional foods are foods like hamburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, potato salad, cornbread, deviled eggs, meatloaf, sloppy joes, hot dogs, apple pie, and chocolate chip cookies. We celebrate holidays such as presidents day, Memorial day, independence day (fourth of july), labor day, christmas, etc. On the bigger holidays like the fourth of july, you will usually see a bunch of people gathering for a party. Most of the time when you go to someone's party, you bring a dish of food. Once everyone brings some food, there is like a buffet for everyone to eat at.
The food that we eat is chilaquiles, pozole, sopitos, tacos, vivria, Menudo,Chile, relleno,Enchilada, mole and alb?ndigas. That are my favorite one that I like in my culture. But yes they are more different type of food that we Have. But that is
According to developmental psychology a person at any age is at a certain stage of cognitive, moral, psychosocial, and physical development. This development is measured by different types of thinking, mental capacity for tasks, physical strength, and reasoning for following rules. Development is easily seen in children. Naturalistic observation is the one of the easiest method to see these developments in children. This is the observation technique I used, while watching a five year old male at Kindercare Daycare at 3:30 on a Friday.
Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.
As hispanics we like to celebrate a lot, we celebrate some of the same holidays as other cultures. During Christmas time we make posadas which is half religious and half celebrating , we recreate Mary and Joseph’s pilgrimage to Bethlehem .When we finish with that part we start with the party half which we celebrate with food and piñatas. As Hispanics we really do believe in traditions, during christmas time we like to make big parties all our family and friends get together to celebrate we make some traditional food like tamales, punch ,buñuelos and many other food .
Hispanic and American Food Traditions The type of food that we eat is influenced by the countries and people that were once settled down in the land that we live on. Those from the past generation help influenced the way that we live and the food that we eat. Each region has their very own dishes of food that represent their uniqueness and own touch of their country.

Ashley Witucki Alita Reque-Peterson General Psychology: 16 September 2016 The Shopping Groups: A Naturalistic Observation There are diverse types of shoppers in this world due to each person's ideal reason for shopping. A basic way to categorize them is by separating them depending on their age. Last weekend, during the Little Falls Craft Fair, was able to observe many people. After shopping for awhile in the crowded area, I started to wonder whether adults took longer while shopping in a stand versus teenagers and children.
A way to encourage scientific enquiry in the classroom is through the use of practical investigations. In the context of thinking and working scientifically, investigations are activities where children can use their conceptual understanding and knowledge of science to find solutions to problems and questions (Skamp, 2012). Supported by Ward et al. (2006) who say that the term investigation is used for activities requiring children to make choices about what to change and measure. Instances where science lessons are practical and focus on the development skills linked with scientific enquiry and where emphasis was placed on the children carrying out investigations independently, were the most beneficial (Ofsted 2010).
Surveys, case studies, and naturalistic observations are all similar because it all has the same advantages. They all describe behavior, and lead to the hypothesis. They also help them answer the questions that the psychologist wonder about. Survey and case studies are more alike than naturalistic because they can have false information, Due to the fact that people can give false consent or can be mislead into the wrong conclusion. However they are also different in many ways, like how they all have different settings.
