Introduction In thinking about all schooling you have experienced, where would you consider to be the most informative, influential and, above all else, the most fun? Today, putting your child into a daycare center will not only provide your child with beginning interpersonal skills, but the capabilities to adventure and explore the world around them. The other side of the coin in this instance is having the child at home with their parents. In doing this, the child will be able to build a bond with their parental figures that ensures a connection for the span of their lives. This also allows for the family bond to grow stronger in the sense of being present for most if not all of the child’s growing milestones. This will also ensure that …show more content…
While this study includes nonparental daycare attendance as a variable, it was determined through previous “inconclusive” research that the variable alone did not correlate with socio-emotional development. Melhuish’s study, however, includes several variables to ensure maximum clarity. Building upon that notion, with regard to temperament, it is stated “temperamental difficulty may well relate to developing socio-emotional behavior...descriptions of the easy or difficult child incorporate behaviors that inevitably affect social interactions.” Similarly, Melhuish asserts the importance of gender in this study through various socio-emotional comparisons between children, which correlated temperamental difficulty and initial sociability with gender (Melhuish, 1987). The results indicated several links between types of daycare (nonparental, parental, and sibling/baby-sitter), temperamental disposition, and socio-emotional development: nonparental daycare children scored lower on measurements of social orientation, and positive tone than all other types. No relation between daycare type and temperament were found …show more content…
It can be argued that each method of daycare has its own pros and cons from a universal standpoint as well as from the multiple standpoints stemming from different cultures. We can interpret this information as a means to acquire more knowledge about the separate “correct” ways children are raised as per their respective nations. With that aside, there is still much to learn about this topic, whether it is through a socio-cultural perspective or otherwise; discovering and honing the most efficacious method of childcare certainly has a myriad of
In the negative part of the daycare today are 1-a non stimulating environment, 2-no emotional support from caregivers, 3- too many children,4- an unsafe environment, 5- an unhealthy environment, activities don't promote mental, physical, social and emotional growth,6- state licensing requirements aren't followed,7- a lack of open communication. I will be aware in the last negative part of daycare today for how readialy available the director is in communication with you, as well as how openly your child can be in contact with the

Furthermore, we impact create routines that help children to trust adults, they feel more settled and freer to play, explore and learn. The impact this has on a child’s attachment is extremely important it teaches them that they will always be supported by us. The current time period is one of unprecedented change; and of almost constant interaction, with each other, and with those of distant lands. Based on enhancements in technology and communication, one would assume that over the generation between the time when the first edition of Preschool in Three Cultures was published and when Preschool in Three Cultures Revisted was published, would show that education officials are closer to understanding what the best practices are for the universal preschool-aged child. Educators, administrators, and policy makers have been exposed to more practices from around the globe than ever before. Being that all three preschools are working with the same age group, with similar developmental needs, one would think that these three nations’ early childhood education systems have grown more alike because best practices for a three year old should look the same in the United States, China, and Japan. Along with that thought, each system has elements of value: shouldn’t “best” parts of each system be combined to create the “perfect
First, in an organized day care the security is more advanced. There have been many reported cases of child abuse while children are at an in-home daycare. At an organized day care as stated in the article, “In-class video surveillance.” This provides evidence for any situation that may occur in the day care.
During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.
After weighting all the pros and cons, we decided to not send our child to the daycare. One of the main reasons for our decision was that daycare options in our neighborhood is either unreasonably expensive, or affordable but with not outstanding reputation. Couple of friends of ours thought we are nuts by not sending a child with a difficult temperament to the school, but we, on the contrary, thought he will benefit by being home more and that way we will be able to facilitate a less irritable environment. I see that transfer to the daycare might led some children—especially, more sensitive ones such as Otto—to think that their parents are indifferent, and this may then affect the parent-attachment relationship.
The article discusses each of the six approaches most commonly used in early childhood education. The six approaches are Bank Street, Head Start, High/Scope, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf. Bank Street promotes competence, individuality, and socialization in children. Head Start emphasizes on physical, intellectual, and emotional development for ages 0 to 5 years old. High/Scope pushes the method of teachers’ and children’s work go hand-in hand.
I believe that communication, trust, and professionalism are the three most important factors when it comes to maintaining positive and productive relationships with all of the families. Communication is the glue that holds us together because parents want to know and be educated on their child’s developmental progress. Trust is the foundation of our relationships because honestly, without trust, we wouldn’t have relationships to begin with. Last but not least, Professionalism is very important because it helps keep the relationship focused on the most important thing; the
The time in the morning allows JL to tend to herself and LD as needed. LD remains in a bassinet in JL’s room. During the weekdays the two older boys go to daycare at 7:30am. The consistency of the daycare routine minimized the boy’s separation anxiety of not having JL with them for 12
How to Cope with Being Unextraordinary When given this assignment, we were told to pick something we are an expert on or can do better than anyone else...and I began thinking of ideas. I sing in choir, I like to organize, and I make pretty good brownies, but after a while of rattling off ideas, I came to a realization: I 'm not extraordinary. There isn 't anything I do better than other people or something I write about without feeling like a fraud. This is how I decided to write about how to cope with being unextraordinary.

Introduction Growing up I always heard my mother jokingly say, “I’m a good daycare worker because I’m such a good mom, or maybe it’s the other way around.” My mother swore that the things that she learned from working at the daycare changed how she chose to raise her kids. From what I’ve heard of how my older brothers were raised, years before my mother was a daycare workers, she was right. This one case seemed to be true, but I wanted to explore how other people thought their occupations affected their parenting.
Education has extreme positive effects on children. Statistically, parents with a higher education spend more time with their children and use the time for concerted cultivation rather than accomplishment through natural growth (Berghammer, Deutsch). Day care institutions are run by trained experts on the field of childrearing and provide each individual child which exactly what they need. Children who lack concerted cultivation at home or need special treatment in any other way get a inclusive treatment. This provides children with traditional gender role distribution the chance to experience a more egalitarian approach on women’s and men’s roles.
There are a great number of studies that state that the first five years of a child’s development are the most important and that they will set the tone for the child’s ability to learn, socialize, and be a successful member of society. Because of this, proponents believe that preschool should become mandatory for all children. While this might seem like a good solution to some, preschool should not be mandatory for all children before they enter kindergarten. There are many factors to be considered in a child 's early development and to put a blanket demand on entering preschool, could be a disservice to some children based on parental influences, environmental factors, and the level of education and care being given in a particular home childcare
Throughout this course of four weeks, my perspective of child development has changed drastically in this short amount of time. This was my first class that was related to child development and there was a lot of material that was important to learn and understand. I came to this class with not much knowledge, but I am definitely leaving this class with an abundance of information that I will be able to use in my career or just in general. Discontinuous Within the process of child development, my view is based upon that is children are constantly growing through stages which is a discontinuous process.
